BBC gossip page has a link to the Daily Hate saying we’re in for Cunha with Duran going to Al Nassir.  There does see to be something going on with Duran.  Weird.

As entertaining as he is, there will always be 'something going on' with Duran every transfer window and all times in between, I'm pretty sure that there are few of us expecting to attend his testimonial match.

Very true Peter.  I’m already bored of it to be honest.  He’s a great prospect but we can’t have this going on all the time.  I’d imagine Unai has no interest in keeping him happy to the detriment of everyone else either.

Of course, it could well be nonsense.  But it must be a bit destabilising.

The lesson from the past two windows with Duran is not to be taken in by the hype, he’ll still be here next week.

Indeed.

Emery - who doesn’t have a reputation for being overly warm or one who to soft soak an individual player - went to great lengths to reassure him he had a big role to play earlier this season. A bumper new contract followed shortly after.

Now this noise.

The noise is coming from elsewhere though. We had similar with Benteke until he finally went.

Starting him today would help put things to bed. He should have started in Monaco. Watkins was flat from the off.

For the Under 18s? That’ll make things worse. But I suppose will put it to bed.

Which was often stirred by his agent iirc and if Durán's agent is doing the same, it may as well be the player.

I still think we'll try and loan in a 10 before the window closes on top of signing a centre half from somewhere. I just get the impression from Emery he's not happy with the attacking side from the other night, things haven't clicked enough this season and we're are overly reliant on Rogers.

The talk on that one is Asensio coming in on loan until the end of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen making moves to sign Aston Villa player – Loan with option or obligation to buy

Bayer Leverkusen are making moves to try and sign Emi Buendia from Aston Villa, to replace the injured Martin Terrier.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Leverkusen are exploring a loan deal for the Argentine midfielder.

According to his information, Leverkusen are considering make a loan offer with an option to buy included. Aston Villa aren’t interested in this and are instead demanding an obligation to buy be included in any loan deal.

Another unnamed club are also in the race for Buendia at this moment in time. Plettenberg doesn’t provide any hints on who that may be, though.

I would take a loan with an obligation of £25m with add-on

I'd already factored that in to my mirth. Nobody's paying £25m for Buendia. Let alone with add-ons.

It does feel like a lot of the movement is to do with shuffling the pack to stay within the FFP constraints, and in particular the wage bill feels like it is being managed.

I like Buendia, but if he is on big wages I can see why we would be looking to move him on. If it did mean Cunha coming in it would certainly be an upgrade too.

I am a tad concerned about the paucity of centre back options now Carlos is gone. Be interesting to see what kind of player we bring in, but I would imagine they will be looking for someone that will complement Torres well.

As for Duran, I would be inclined to sell him. Good as he is the circus surrounding him is irritating and unlikely to go away, and if we did clear £80m as is being reported then it should allow us to strengthen in 2-3 positions. £80m for a second choice player is unheard of, and we could find a back-up closer in style to Watkins.
