They're young enough for the b list (and will be next year as well).

Duran isn't being sold this window so I think you'll find Barry isn't first team plans so he'll be loaned out or sold.
And perhaps Gauci will be loaned out.

I think you are right Paul, I don’t see anymore attacking signings this window but I do hope Barry stays and we get to see him introduced a little from the bench, be able to see if he is good enough for this league rather then trying to get the biggest fee without giving a chance.

I'm not writing anything new, but I find it interesting to compare the young players that we were signing from abroad 10-years ago to those that we are signing now. Back then we bringing in players like Amavi, Veretout, Ayew, Traore and Gueye. In terms of outlay and risk, they are arguably the equivalent of Duran, Nedelkovic, Illing-Junior, Barrenechea and Garcia now. Obviously, like all signings, some of these will come off, and others won’t. Without wanting to relitigate that whole era again, I don't think that side of our recruitment strategy back then was inherently bad.

The main difference is that the current cohort have the opportunity to break into the first team, but we aren’t completely relying on them all now, and the others will (hopefully) get good experience out on loan. I suppose the reason that we aren't relying on them all now is the other side of our recruitment strategy. Back then we were also signing more experienced players like Gestede, Lescott, Richards, Crespo, Bunn, Sinclair and Cissokho. Whereas we are now signing (and trying to sign) players like Bade, Malen, Onana, Maatsen, Rogers and Torres.

The recruitment wasn't that bad.  Shite management from the top down was the problem.

I have mentioned a few times, there is some deep thinking about what we are doing.  Doesn’t mean it will work but certainly better than buying a load of french players that the manager has little plan to play.  Having the same manager for more than two years helps too.
