Seems a bit silly to be letting players go before the end of the Champions League Group Stage.

Carlos was suspended for the Monaco game anyway.

Ta. But not for the Celtic game. We are one injury away from having to ask Bogarde to play both centre-half and central midfield in that match.

Reckon we will have a replacement in by that game on Jan 29th.

Yes but they won't be able to play. It's madness letting Carlos go before that game.

Surely Swinkels would play there at a push.

Yes if we have to sell before we buy we have to make a calculated risk

We can sell before we buy, after the Celtic game. It's five days before the end of the transfer window. There is no need to take such a risk whatsoever.

Would the buying club wait? What happens if Carlos breaks his leg training for the Celtic game AFTER we bought in the players we bought in? As big a risk of letting him go before it?

I don’t see what the big deal is. We’ve managed the past few game without him. Others can step in if needed. For the league games ahead of the Celtic game we should have a replacement in place. It’s ultimately one CL game vs Celtic where hopefully we are really close to top 8 qualifying. We needed to sell Diego, and while timing isn’t perfect it’s a deal that completely makes sense us and him. A big contract off our books for an inconsistent player who is often injured.

Loïc Badé and Aston Villa, deal on with talks ongoing as he’s top of the list for #AVFC as centre back.

Diego Carlos leaves to join Fenerbahçe.

It's pretty unlikely. Fenerbahce have one game that he would be eligible to play in before the end of our transfer window. There's much more chance of one of our defenders picking up a knock. If we drop points against Celtic it massively reduces our chances of making the last sixteen of the Champions League and probably ensures we get knocked out of the FA Cup, too, due to the ridiculous scheduling of the Tottenham game.

Aston Villa have just sent an offer for Loïc Badé.
@FabriceHawkins

Aston Villa & Sevilla are negotiating for Loïc Badé — figure around €25m.

What we also don't have the benefit of knowing the details. There was a report that Bade has said his goodbyes to his teammates and has had his last training session with Sevilla.

And for every week that goes by, that's another £100k paid out to Carlos and delaying the deal could actually jeopardise the deal, which would then put the Bade deal at risk.

Sometimes we want the perfect situation, but life's not like that and we have to take calculated risks.

Loïc Badé looks like a big improvement on Carlo who i did like but for a guy his size was weak in the air and prone to too many injuries.

Great looking replacement and will fit right in with our French / Belgian and Dutch guys
