From the BBC Gossip pages
"Barcelona sporting director Deco has already met with Duran's representatives for informal talks to let the Aston Villa striker know he is on the radar of the Catalan club."
Err isn't this known as tapping up, thought this was not allowed, or is it just accepted now that it happens.

think it's very much allowed (or at least accepted now).

Absolutely no way we should be selling Duran a) for what he offers right now and b) for what he could offer in the future but if some of the really big fish come calling, it's difficult to see him not throwing his toys out the pram given he was all up for joining West Ham in the Summer...
I often think how pissed off West Ham must be for not just paying the money

Yep, would be ridiculous to sell Duran, unlikely that Barca could sign him anyway. You have to expect there’s a release clause in his contract though.

We shouldn’t be getting rid of Carlos unless we replace him either. Leaving ourselves with Mings and Konsa as our only fit senior centre halves would be negligent, to say the least.

I doubt either will happen.

On the other hand, if they had signed him he probably would have immediately stopped on his trajectory of being the most exciting young striker in the world and turned into Jozy Altidore like every other player that turns up at the strikers' graveyard.

For all of Duran's playing up in the summer, he was frustrated at not getting on the pitch more because of Ollie's form, then had watched him become England's darling in Euros.

He probably assumed the situation wouldn't change much but it has, so although I'm not saying his head wouldn't be turned, the circumstances have changed quite a bit since the summer.

Barcelona can't even afford to sign players they've already got.

Isn’t Olmo a free agent now from this year as they cannot register him? So, why they are being linked with new players if beyond me.

Id take olmo off them if duran ended up wanting to go to them. If he wanted to go in future  we should be understanding  as barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world

Obv big if though

Dortmund keen on the Rashford deal. Could be the catalyst for Malen to move.

Not registrable but not a free agent. You can have a contract with any club and they can pay you but they can only play you once you are registered with the League/Association your owner club plays in.

Duran and any other footballer have the same rights as you and me.

Ah ok, thanks.
The overall point that Barca are not in a good place to sign players like Duran.

Did hear on Talksport that he couldn't play for Spain because he's not registered, perhaps I misheard it?

Massive downgrade for them. Rashfords such a over rated player

Not sure about that. When his head is right he is a very effective player, and I can certainly see him doing very well in the lacklustre Bundesliga.
