For £10m it would likely be done. We will make do with what we've got.

Not Villa related, but surely the most random transfer link of the window. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cdek8e5zp77o

Two centre back's for the next two months, one of who has only only started 3 games in 18 months? Not a good idea is it?

Would they be considering Bogart as an option ? talk about thrown into the deep end

We'd get someone in, either to do a job until the end of the season or someone we've had our eye on anyway.

You'd hope that someone called Lamare would be able to handle being thrown in at the deep end.

I wonder at some point in his life he didn't know what a 1-2 was and he held on to the pass and someone had to shout, "Play it again."

Are we even in a position to offload a CB?
No but we are in a position to offload Carlos.

Dean Windass in Brazil is a doc I'd certainly watch a few minutes of.

Carlos might not be the long term answer but if you are bringing in a centre half in January likely from another league you have to be very certain that they can hit the ground running, are strong enough to not have to adapt to the physicality and have the technical ability to play the way we do from the back….not sure we can get that for 10m to replace Carlos.  You look at Todibo / Yoro both hugely rated, both took time to bed in and they came in preseason.

As with other recruits it all comes down to budget available.  Reality is we could do with 2 players (right back / right mid) in at least the 30m+ bracket…only the club will know if we can do those types of deals.

Agree with Gareth, by and large.

I don't rate Carlos, and would be happy to move him on, but only if his replacement is a. better and b. here before.

Carlos isn't the short term answer either, he's completely unsuited to what Emery wants from his centre backs. 18 months left on his deal I think and must be on a very decent wage as he was highly
sought after when we got him. Emery sold Danny Ings without a replacement in Jan so won't shy away from selling Carlos if we get any kind of bid around 10m. But I get the sense Carlos is happy enough at Villa Park, Fulham would have been a great move for him last summer but it didn't happen, and won't be in a rush to leave for more regular football than he gets with us. Not sure his body is able for it.

I'd be happy enough with bogarde filling in for Carlos if it came to it

Carlos is like a leaky stand pipe tap. Yeah, you need to replace it, but taking it out without doing do is just going to make things worse.
