Quote from: The Grauniad, in a piece about Forest's resurgence
"...Forest were susceptible at the back under Steve Cooper and Nuno made them stronger but failed to solve the problem of defending set pieces. To address that, a dominant centre-back arrived in Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina. Forest’s has become the third-best defence in the Premier League.
The centre-back is willing and aggressive but, equally, he is a steady head alongside Murillo. Forest sought someone experienced, vocal and commanding, settling on Milenkovic, who had been a regular starter in Serie A for five seasons. The Serb was signed in mid-July after he was deemed the best fit to work with the left-footed Murillo in a back four."
Good scouting and would have been a perfect replacement for Carlos, perhaps.

Vocal and commanding is exactly what we’ve been missing since Mings got injured.

The only good defensive performances we’ve had since are when we’ve played three centre-halves across the back, and they’re not consistently good performances. Konsa and Pau, both decent/adequate covering defenders, are lost without a leader, organiser and physical presence alongside them.

Right-sided attacker for me.

We also need a right back and a back up to Pau (as when he's off form we really struggle).

I think right-side attacker is the key though. Had Bailey been the player of last season we'd probably be 4th now and not worried.

Going to be tough, I think trying to shift Buendia and Philogene is going to be the key.

Mbuemo makes the most sense, 25 and on a free in 18 months.

You don’t think Mings is (at least) good enough to be a back-up for Pau?

As a dominant centre half on the right what about Milan Skriniar, not getting a look in at PSG

 Aston Villa have rekindled interest in Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen.
@MailSport

There is a possibility of up to three additions in January.

All kinds of excuses are being made for the poor performances of those two all season. Adding Carlos into the mix is not now, and has never been, the solution.

Haven't lost a game all season.

It has been the solution many times, as long as you can remember football matches that you’ve watched. I realise this excludes you.

There can be no other explanation why somebody ignores our four most memorable games from the last 12 months, all of them defensive masterclasses, games that most people will remember for years and years.
