If he can stay fit Onana might cover what we have lost with Doug, hopefully (different player, but in terms of balance in the round). But we need to replace what we have lost in Diaby. Whatever people think of him, and I think he had a solid season, the attributes he gave to us are completely absent and we look predictable now.

Bailey is off it. Diaby's pace has gone. Ramsey is injured.

That's our problem.. We need pace up front.

Anyone seen much of Rayan Cherki at Lyon? I believe he wasn’t wanted in the summer and was linked to some English clubs but ended up staying and has forced himself back into the team.
Was highly rated and has got the profile and plays in a position(s) that should be of interest to us.

The way this summer went I wouldn't trust Monchi to buy a lottery ticket.

His reputation was built on finding rough diamonds for Sevilla, Dani Alves, Julio Baptista etc but that was probably 15- 20 years ago. He’s got the relationship with Unai and is probably good at other aspects (not sure what else he does?) he may have been a fore runner of excellence in scouting networks but other clubs have done the same with similar or better results since then.
I certainly expected a few more of the Morano type signing but perhaps it’s due to the fact we’ve progressed quicker than anyone expected.

He was an absolute disaster in Italy, wasn't he?

Thats the general consensus, I think he was only there for a season or two at the most.
Considering our financial restraints you’d think he’d have a few players that could do a job for us without breaking the bank.

He did unearth Robin Olsen for Roma.

Was he buried in the ruins?

Some of his early performances were certainly reminiscent of those figures buried at Pompeii in the aftermath of Vesuvius.

I don’t understand what you mean that perhaps it’s because we have progressed so quickly.  This summer we signed Onana and Barkley who have done fine, and Jayden who’s been shit.  The rest I assume are for FFP deals.

I don’t think the issue is the players we have signed - it’s more in the players we haven’t been able to

How much are we paying Coutinho a year? His salary freed-up could get us two decent players.

I think his loan is up in January. I doubt there’s much chance of us getting out of that one.

Right back and a pacey forward required.

I don’t think we need a right-back. Much simpler to pair Mings with Konsa again, then Cash is adequate. Not as good as Ashley Young was, but adequate.
