I hope we’re busy in January in an effort to finish top 4/5 again. We have the safety net of many saleable assets before June 30th if we’re desperate to balance the books then.

Upgrades on Cash & Bailey perhaps, knowing that players like Cash and SJM come into that near-as-damn-it pure profit category.

We are definitely missing Diaby's insane pace

Pace is the main asset we are short of this season. Diaby may not have finalised the end product but he caused the opposition to be well aware of him and to keep more defensive.

And he did contribute to 19 goals.

Losing Diaby exposed the team to the vagaries of Bailey's form, which is a shame. It's worth remembering that Bailey started slowly last year too, but could find his form (from the bench) while Diaby was still in his purple patch, without detracting from the team performance.

Bailey had 3 goals and 3 assists by this stage last year. This season he's got 2 assists.

Bailey didn’t really kick on until late October early November last season and he’s showing signs of promise again now. Diaby was always going to be a loss, he contributed a huge amount last season even though at times he drifted in and out of a game. His stats back that up. We never replaced him properly. I’m sure there was a plan to do so, but then the realisation of the FPP restrictions came to light.

I do think we need someone in January who can either put pressure on Bailey, either as a direct replacement or can play more centrally.

Isn’t Morgan Diaby’s replacement? Buendia replacing the Italian fella that I’ve already forgotten. Jaden is understudy to Bailey.

The squad is big enough, and arguably good enough.  There’s just too many people out of form at the moment.  No-one is at their peak, expect maybe Tielemans.

Sorry if this (rather obvious) selection has been done before, but every time I watch Southampton's Tyler Dibling (Cuthbert Dibble Grubb) play, the lad reminds me so much of early Grealish, ripping through defenders and looking like he's having enormous fun.

And every scout in the world will be watching him.

A lot of players that wear their socks down low and have tiny shin pads look like Grealish. Ben Broggio is another of that ilk.

Although i agree we should, i cant see us being that active until the summer 1 or at most 2 coming in.

One or two coming in might make all the difference. If they are the right players.

I’ve mentioned him a few times, I’d be delighted if we bought him and Roy Keane’s son in law when they go down.

Morgan is very different to Diaby, who could either play centrally or out wide which allowed us to rest Bailey, giving us very good options on the right hand side. Jaden doesn’t seem ready to be a replacement for Bailey. Unfortunately little Emi hasn’t really looked good enough to be anywhere near the standard we achieved last season.

I agree though, we do have too many players under par over the last four weeks.

Just wtaching the palace game. We really missed a trick not getting sarr. For 12m thats a steal.he is quick and exactly the type of player we need

The 18 year old that played for Sunderland last night looks like the real deal.
