I still remember how we laughed when some fat bloke with amullet and bright yellow boots waddled onto the pitch to play against us for Varteks Verazdin.

The bastard beat us on his own.

We should be looking at Alex Baena, according to Sid Lowe, Spanish football journalist, he’s been one of the standout players in Spain so far. Plays for Villarreal so Unai should be familiar.

Edit. Thought his contract was expiring but apparently he signed a deal last year with a £60m buyout, so beyond us.

Not sure it is beyond us?  But there again, I've never heard of the player so I'm not the oracle!

We aren't going to be spending 60m on anyone in January, thanks to PSR.

Was thinking tonight at the game that what we really need for the rest of the season are options at RW and RB.  Not necessarily to replace Bailey and Cash, but to give us options there.

I think it's probably the case that they thought they had those areas covered with Nedeljkovic and Philogene, but both look way off the required level at the moment.  Would be better to get those two out on loan and get in players who can potentially step in and do a job in games for us.

There probably isn't going to be a lot of money around, so it may just be a couple of loans with options to buy, but the one requirement for me would be someone with genuine pace on that right attacking side.

We could then look again at some more permanent options in the summer.

Depends as any deal in theory only puts 15 mil on the bad column. And we have definitely earned more this season with CL wins and Hecks squeezing, but even if we haven't, we sell in June like last year.

I don't know who he is but I would have enjoyed singing "Tobido-be-do, where are you?", whenever he was missing from the starting lineup.

Frimpong? Covers both positions and has a relatively low release clause.

Can't stand Bailey so would like Kudus at West Ham or Adringa at Brighton. Both probably out of our reach financially so maybe Semenyo at Bournemouth, Mbeumo at Brentford or Cunha at Wolves might be more realistic but still not cheap.

If Monchi's as good as he's meant to be, he needs to work within the restrictions and unearth a gem or two.

Does the extra revenue generated from the CL games help our transfer budget at all this Jan?

I think all that plays more a part on the accounts after the summer next year.
