Knowing our luck at least one will get injured in the first three games. But at least we've gone for players to make an immediate difference.

At least most are short term to get us through until the summer, I find it hard to see how management could have done any better than this.

We'll never forget Luc Nilis.

Purest Bergkamp that. You can see on the last replay that little touch with the right is intentional too. Would definitely have liked to have seen more of that.

Typical Villa, we pick up a class player in the twilight of his career with the question of if he's still got it and can he adapt.

That gets answered unequivocally, only for him to get a freak career ender from that gormless twat in the Ipswich goal.

100%. I was devastated at the time. Talking about it now makes me realise I'm still not fully happy about it over 20 years on.

I really, really liked Nilis. Think he'd have been excellent.

He was genuine class, he'd partnered some of the great strikers of that era:

"Ronaldo occasionally names Nilis as one of the best strike partners he had played with, despite sharing only a brief time with him at PSV.[23] Ruud van Nistelrooy has also stated on several occasions that the Belgian was one of the best players, if not the best, he had ever played with"

His YouTube highlights reel is still the one that anyone else's should be judged against. It's truly brilliant.

Didn't know he was a deadball specialist : then again, we didn't really get the chance to see him at work.

Watching that it looks like it was not only a loss for us but to the league. The nearest example I can think of was Zola.

Manchester United and Aston Villa were both ready to offer 70m euros (£58.3m) for Barcelona's Fermin Lopez in January, but the 21-year-old Spain forward was not interested in a move.

Not sure anyone will know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway. When a club takes a player on loan, and agrees a buy option, are the players terms agreed at the same time?

If Rashford is amazing for us, and we decide we want to buy him for the agreed price, do we still have to negotiate with him, or has that part been done already too?

I reckon it will have all been sorted now, that's what I have always thought, but it's based on jack shit.

In the window we signed:

Malen
Garcia
Asensio
Rashford
Disasi

At the same time moved on some players who (if truth be told) weren't good enough and netted around £60m to help with PSR

We've yet to see Disasi, but based on the appearances thus far by Malen and Garcia, I think we can be confident that they're going to improve the quality and depth of the squad.

Malen did a great job last night of leading the line in the absence of Ollie and Garcia was composed and assured in a (very) makeshift back 4. Their presence means that we can give Watkins and Cash time to fully recover instead of having to bring them back early - thereby risking further injuries.

Rashford and Asensio oozed class and top level quality in the half hours they played. How much better will they be with a few more weeks of coaching from Unai?

IF Disasi can make an equally positive addition to the squad, then imo this has the potential to be  one of our best transfer windows ever.
