First West Ham, now Chelsea.
Both wanted Duran throughout the summer.
And both are chasing him again this winter window with more talk of reported bids and discussions.
What is happening here? ... but there is no smoke without fire.
Firstly, in the transfer market there usually is lots of smoke without a fire; as you should well know because you seem to scour the internet across all sorts of transfer-news websites.
What's happening here? - I'd say other clubs have been watching Emery try to integrate Duran into the side - and largely fail. Tuesday night will have suggested to a few that Villa will have to sell one of their two strikers (neither will be happy if they get limited gametime) and Duran has the greatest long-term potential.
Emery has his work cut out to accommodate two big talents vying for the same role in a team that only plays one striker; so far, I'm not convinced he has cracked it.
I don’t think he ever will without a complete change of system, even then it might not work.

If the Carlos transfer does not happen, i can imagine that he wont be a happy chappy when he has to return to the club.

Carlos has already gone

Indeed, which is why we must surely have a new CB already sorted, or it'd be a bit of a fuck up from Monchi.

Yep, I’m sure something must be sorted and just hasn’t been announced because it would be utter negligence to leave us this light.

I'm not doubting anybody on here but the BBC Transfer pages have not reported Carlos leaving yet- presumably this one has slipped under its usually reliable radar.

Was it David O'Leary?

The Times today

Real Valladolid express 'great disappointment and indignation' over the way the Premier League side allegedly tried to force through Juma Bah move

Manchester City have been accused by the Spanish club Real Valladolid of encouraging their teenage defender Juma Bah to terminate his contract to force through a move to the Premier League side.

Valladolid said City initially asked for permission to start negotiations over signing the 18-year-old, who is from Sierra Leone, only for Bah and his agent to tell the La Liga club he would be unilaterally terminating his contract.

The defender then failed to report for training on Wednesday morning, while the club were informed by the Spanish football federation that the money needed to activate the termination clause in Bah's youth contract had been paid.

A statement from Valladolid read: “The club consider that Manchester City is behind the player's decision, and appear to have advised the player to take this route.

“The player's intention, supposedly supported and guided by Manchester City and his agent, has caused great disappointment and indignation within Real Valladolid, who welcomed Juma Bah with open arms and gave him the opportunity of a lifetime.”

Bah moved to Valladolid from AIK Freetong in his home country last summer and has made 12 appearances in La Liga.

Valladolid said they will take disciplinary action against Bah and will “defend” the club's interests. All international transfers need to be signed off by Fifa.
City said no comment when approached.

There are a couple of very good center half's at not massive clubs whi we might attract. Tah at Bayer Lev would be difficult to get but don't think impossible.
Tomori again not out of the realms of possibility
Tapsoba also at bayer
St Juste at sporting
Finally our tormenter Singo

All of the above are possible signings and I'm not an ITK scout who is paid to unearth gems. Dougie back seems a no brainer to me even if only a 6 month loan.

St Juste is injured probably a hamstring. Came off last night after 15 minutes. Ignoring that, he won't be cheap.

Well we’re in a spot of bother now - sold our defensive cover and we have two senior centre backs who are available. That’s not great.
