Aston Villa v Bologna FC 1909 Pre Match
« on: October 19, 2024, 05:41:41 PM »
With this weekend's PL business out of way time to look forward to the next challenge:
What: UEFA Champions League
When: Tuesday 22 October Kick off 20:00BST
Where: Villa Park B6

Bologna are not exactly setting the Serie A alight this season. Currently 13th with only one win from 8 games, however somewhat of draw specialist as they have only lost one game. Today they drew 2-2 away at Genoa but were winning 2-0.

For us may be the game to start with Duran and Kamara and McGinn etc. and  get Bailey up to match fitness.

I think we can rotate a little just to keep some players fresh for the weekend. It would be unbelievably Villa of us to beat Bayern only to come unstuck against Bologna but I hope we get a good win. I think we can use our bench to our advantage again.

Not that he'd want it but I'd consider a rest for Ollie to unleash him on Bournemouth. We know JD is more than capable. Might as well play Jaden and give him the minutes. McGinn will be champing at the bit. Bailey needs a few games out by the look of it. Perhaps a supersub role in the next few weeks might suit him more to ease back to his best.

Digne I think could benefit from a midweek off and Maatsen is ready to go. Cash worked hard today and was blowing out his arse by the end, so maybe a good game to rest him too, as his not long come back.

I don't think we can really rest Onana, Rogers and Tielemens at the moment but all being well we're in a job done position on the hour mark.

I think its been abit harsh on maatsen that he hasnt played more minutes.  Id be tempted to start him and give digne a rest for Bournemouth

Go string try qualify asap if possible then we can rest players later in tournament

Very excited for this one. Due to the help of a couple of kind souls on here I'll be taking my six and ten year old for their first Villa Park trip.

Not a bad competition to go and watch for a first time.

Have fun. No pressure, but make sure to let them know they're banned for life if we don't win. 🙂

Yes quite. Or even if we concede a goal as we haven’t done that yet in the CL.

Unfortunately I'm already signed up to take the younger one to Bournemouth as well.

I’d go with

Martinez
Cash
Konsa
Pau
Maatsen
Tielemans
McGinn
Onana
Rogers
Buendia
Duran
