Felt pre-match that the loss of McGinn, Ramsey and Onana in our midfield would be the undoing of us today and post match I’m not going to argue with myself.

I hope they are still out on the pitch practicing crossing.

We’ve lost a bit of our spark going forward of late. We just aren’t delivering the amount of slick attacking moves we were. Hopefully injury returns and a bit of a reset will help.

I thought Rogers 1st half was our best threat going forward. Carries the ball better than Ollie and is very physical, his decision making needs to improve though. Bailey not fit but better than Wednesday. Torres was not troubled and looked class. We are not easily beaten these days even on an off day.

We had spells today where we gave the ball away so much. We lacked a bit of composure in the final third.

Still, I've seen them horrible bastards win games like that against us.

So a win and a draw against Bayern and Man Utd isn't at all too bad.

Hope Konsa is pulled from the England squad

Ive still got some reservations that we arr better than last season. But difficult to nake a fair assessment as we havent been able to field our strongest team yet

This thread. Lol.

Tielemans the bellwether, some standard sublime stuff, but a surprisingly high volume of giving the ball away, far more than he has all season. Barkley the same, beat a man, drop the should, ponder a touch, give it away.

McGinn,  JJ and Onana being out, when we needed to freshen the middle up to quicken events, we couldn't. Same with Morgan, who just couldn't get his final ball going.

Defensively sound, that being said Man United offer next to nothing going forwards. Zirkzee looked a pub player, another £50m well spent. Garnacho is a hateful little ******. Dropped over to win the free kick for Roland to hit the bar and that's about all they did invetween a Rashford shot in the first half. He should have walked. Liked Morsey, like Upamecano. One day the dirty twats we play will see red.

2 points dropped, we let a poor sode off the hook, but emotionally and physically drained from Wednesday dusting one of the best sides in the world.

Averaging 2 points a game, which is what we need to, sitting  5th, level with Chelsea in 4th and top 8 in the Champions League. Emery is a genius.

Saw an interview with him and this is exactly what Emery is asking him to do. But I agree, it’s not been to the benefit of his game yet.

A good point for plucky little Man Utd who came to frustrate the Villa and hope for something on the break.

Rogers needs to learn when to pass i.e. before he tries to beat the 4th, 5th and 6th defenders.

Roger’s has this habit of trying to take an extra man on this season and it means he is not as good as the opposition are working him out.

Before we slash our wrists, let’s look at some of these beauties from last season:

“I feel like the Villa that starts the 2024/25 season will be unrecognisable in the way that a recently relegated team is because it's had to flog all of its stars, the difference being it'll be because we probably won't be able to offer Champions League football.

“We have totally fucked it now.

We are ten matches from the end of the season and will be playing 30% of those matches without our captain, who plays in a part of the field where we are already decimated.

Not only that, we are playing badly and have been for ages now, just putting in the odd good 45 minutes here and there. Even when we manage a good half we then keep on having an absolute stinker of a second.

We are absolutely fuxked with injuries and have a difficult run in. The next three matches are all tricky, and I can honestly see us losing them all.

I think we will finish sixth, which will be fucking devastating after the expectation of the first two thirds of the season.

Genuinely woke up this morning feeling exactly like I did after that Stoke match, that is how bad this is. Gifting three points to our closest rivals on our own ground and throwing in an eight GD swing.

Fucking hell, I hate football.”

“Yesterday was pretty fucking terrible, and it's gut wrenching to look at the table and see where Spurs are after tonight.

Yeah yeah yeah lots of football to come, but turn the tables around and if we were ahead of them with a game in hand, we'd be cock-a-hoop.

We've absolutely blown it. We're playing poorly, too, at a time when Spurs are starting to fire more consistently.

Gutting.”

Is that all from one person?

No. I  just saved them as a reminder of the hysterical over-reaction that occurs sometimes. Didn’t save the authors’ names.

That was a tough watch. Pure hindsight as I didn’t think this before the game, but maybe Football Heaven would have given us a bit more energy and guile than Big Morgan, who is one of my favourite players but was terrible today.

Maybe.  I do think we need to use the squad more so when changes happen they’re not seen as a step down and also to avoid complacency between the chosen XI.

We’ll have 5 first team players back by the fulham game. That will be a big boost and allow for more rotation.
