Would've taken a point before the game tbh, shame Philogene didn't stick that chance away after a lovely bit of football.

Final ball just wasn’t there today, except the Philogene chance at the end.  Happy to not lose to them, as well we shouldn’t be.

I don't think we're going to be top 4 again this season, we just haven't got the squad for it.

How many more players do we genuinely need for the squad? We have two top class CFs capable of scoring 15 + this season, Kamara will be back soon so that adds to our impressive cast of CMs and if Maatsen is allowed to play more that's two really good LB options.

It's only really RB and CB we're light for the level we're at.

I think more of a problem currently is we're building up the squad but seems there's only really 12-13 players that Emery really trusts to start prem games.

If we hadn't picked up injuries in the week we'd have probably more or less started the same 11 as Bayern so I do think we need to start trusting our difference makers off the bench a little more.

I think if Ramsey, Kamara, McGinn, Mings and Onana are fit there’s more than 12 players he’d trust to start. I don’t think it will be long and Maatsen is closer to starting.

That was a tough watch. Pure hindsight as I didn’t think this before the game, but maybe Football Heaven would have given us a bit more energy and guile than Big Morgan, who is one of my favourite players but was terrible today.

I never thought scoring would be a problem for this team but here we are

that's only the second league game we haven't scored in so that's nonsense

Sorry, the point I was trying to make is that the games we haven't scored in have been the ones against "better" opposition. Is that a concern?

Hope this pattern isn’t going to be repeated although if we finish mid table and win the CL……

Back home after watching the game in the pub, i havnet read the threads on here yet. It was tight and even but had we nicked it by one goal that would have been fait as well. Given four or something of our starter wasnt there we still looked good enough to beat them and they where more of full strenght and up for it - that is impressive from us.
Still what a week with and extraordinary highlight midweek and I was more dissapointed with the draw at Portman road than the draw today.

Think on reflection the best way to sum this afternoon up is to say that, while we played shite, Manchester United ARE shite.

Last year was an unbelievable season. If there was one area that needed improving it was becoming harder to beat and turning some losses into draws: for example Forest away and Man U at home.

We are harder to beat this season. Only Arsenal have beaten us. That suggests to me we are still on for top 4 or top 5.

Listening to radio in the on the way back Perry Groves was raging about why Rashford was spared by the ref.

We do seem to get a lot of injuries all at once. To not have McGinn, Onana, JJ, all out together isn’t helping our balance or chemistry. Bailey is very out of form. Emery clearly doesn’t yet trust starting Ollie and Duran together and I’m not convinced that works anyway. And then today to also lose Konsa. Well it’s just a a bit shit on the luck front.

A yawn-fest after the Lord Mayor's Show.  A missed opportunity to get some revenge for the years of home humiliation.  They won't be in such a sorry state the next time they visit Villa Park.

What makes you say that? They've spent over a decade now shooting themselves in the foot

Tired performance with injuries mounting up yet we were still the better side. That’s how far we’ve come as a club that they sat behind the ball and time wasted.
The ref bottled the red card and at the end I’d say the time added on was way short of what it should’ve been.
Defensively much better now and when we get everyone fit we’ll be up there challenging again.

If we get 4 or 5 fit in time for Bologna we should be good for a real go at the CL and league. Hope Konsa is OK. Barkley and Youri were fine today, those in front of them were pretty poor tbh. Rogers a rough diamond but will come good inside 12 months. All felt a bit makeshift today, we need a rest clearly. UTD won't be a CAT A game for long on that showing

First 85 minutes were Boldmere St Michaels levels.

That Bailey volley first half.  :o

Only thing that saved us is Yanited were somehow worse.

Bad results against these are almost priced into the season. Just glad to get it out the way.

On the plus side: In the next few weeks we’ll have far more options from the bench.
