Good enough to take on the best in Europe but much like many of the great Villa of 82, not good enough for the national side.

To be fair, England currently have ‘decent’  talent available in his position - it’s gonna be tough to displace Palmer, Bellingham, Foden in the near future, and no reflection on his talent if it takes a little more than 6 months 😁

The main question should be who is the main striker, Ollie Watkins or Donkey Kane.

Interesting fact I learned before the game is that Digne has played for 4 (I think) other teams in CL. Not sure how many minutes he's played or how far any of the teams got, but I thought that was quite impressive. We're the 5th club he's played for that were in the CL. Quite a contrast to a lot of the squad.

That was just magic last night. Took my 9 year old son who didn't get to bed until almost 1am. He'll be struggling at school today but it has to be worth it. A night never to be forgotten.

Although the story is the finish the pass from Torres was just exceptional.
Very similar to the goal Duran scored against Hibs at home so certainly not a flukes punt

I was thinking how special a night it was for all attending but more so for the kids who were there.  It's often said on here, Villa Park under the lights is a special if not magical place and when it's rocking like last night it's the best. The stuff of great memories.

Whilst I remember, it was nice of Serge Gnabry to reprise his 'playing for Albion' performances. Good lad.

Ive felt weirdly emo all day, every time ive had time in between meetings at work to go on here or grab 5 mins listening to the radio talking about us. It was an incredible night, but it really sunk in what an incredible journey this man Emery is bringing us on. Its brilliant the way he embraces our history and what’s important to us, like Gary Shaw passing, but he is creating all these new lifelong memories. This game Im sure will live with my son for life. We were there, it was special.

Yep, especially the greed in the first half instead of the simple square to Kane. I couldn't see that stopping out if he had chose the correct option.

Despite being restless and a bit nervous leading up to the game I never really thought we'd lose. I expected us to have a plan and raise our game. What I didn't factor in was how good Bayern are at keeping the ball. In many ways it was similar to last time we played them; keep it tight, defend with your lives as a team and when you get the chance, take it.

The measure of the victory is not just the 3 points but the fact we are all proud of every single player, some that really raised their game last night to the level we know they can perform. Seeing Jaden's name on the teamsheet was a reminder that Unai had a plan. And what a plan. The fans were amazing too, Villa Park under the lights, it doesn't get much better.

Here's to more wonderful nights at Villa Park this season. Bologna will be a massive test, by all accounts Liverpool were largely outplayed last night, Juventus are looking very strong and Celtic if they're lucky may need the win in their final game to reach the play-offs. Six points on the board though. Not a bad start.
