If we play anything like we did Sunday we will get beat.

If we defend like we have in most games we’ll probably lose. We just have to start working harder and better on the defensive side - too many players aren’t tracking runners, are switching off. It’s frustrating because we have so much going forward.

This I agree with - we really have to stop making silly mistakes.  Defending corners needs to be improved too.

The Bundesliga overall isn't as strong as the Premier League, but their better teams are as strong as the top teams in our league. This will be tough, but anything is possible.

As has been said they have great attacking players and are superb on the transition, we have to be very organised at the back.

And therein lies the problem.

Does it? We defended 10 without goal concession on Sunday. We didn't win any corners to show our attacking prowess from them...

I keep forgetting that we are now Aston Villa, Champions League team. We are no longer Aston Villa, plucky losers. We are in it on merit. Just go out and beat them .

Exactly, it’s not an F.A. cup tie, where plucky lower league club vs Man City, we have earned the right to play them.

Not sure what the Bayern fans think, but i bet there will be some apprehension about coming to a PL team with one of Europe's top managers in charge.

It's a real test of how far we have come in the last two years.

Can't wait!

Looking on their forums they see us as a bit of a curiosity. They seem a bit concerned about Watkins but don't really mention anyone other than Martinez.

They play in a much much less competitive league, and have Vincent Kompany as their manager.  It’s a bit like playing somebody like spurs.  This cap doffing can do one!

Does that mean Leverkusen and dortmund are not good then? Same with Leizpig?

I think you do need to take the claret and blue shades off and be realistic munich are better than us and are expected to beat us.

But thats not saying we cant win as we have shown w ecan beat anyone with citeh and arsenal last season. Don't turn your nose up at a point that be a great result for hs

Do they have anyone who remembers '82 and is still grumpy about it or are they all nouvea-yanitedy fans?

I don't get the impression we're in control of the situation and quite often don't win the ball in the air.  It always feels as though we're more likely to concede than not from a corner to me.  I haven't got time to find the stats to back that up though.

A few mentions of 82, but they have been in so many CL finals since it's just another final to them. Like fans of other massive clubs, they are generally too wrapped up in themselves to bother about us.

Visit their museum at the Allianz and you'll find absolutely zero reference to 1982.

I expect our museums don't mention 2000 or 2015 much either.
