Is there extra time or just pens?

I want it wrapped up in normal time with a clinical performance so I can get home at an almost respectable hour!

I hold Richards and Lescott in the same disdain personally. Grim days! As I say, hopefully we can give a much better account of ourselves this time.

Yeah, same here. On that BBC podcast Richards does with Shearer and Lineker, they showed the Father Christmas thing again. I can't think of anything worse than that, not even Hitler.

What did he have to say about it?

I am not advocating we go full strength but some on here are almost advocating it's better we lose as the league cup is the 4th priority.
If you think losing will improve us having a REAL chance of lifting the European Cup, Premier League or FA Cup this season then I have no argument.
If it is because it may impact where we finish in the league or how deep we go in other competitions (with the consequent financial effects) then go and tell it to Heck.
In football, for most fans at least, the bottom line is still a trophy.

Rumours he was supposed to have been a bit of an Everton fan.
Anyway, he didn't have a lot to say after 1945.

I want us to win every game.

Tomorrow I want to see those who don't start regularly to start. For a multitude of positive reasons. It will give them game time, it will mean Emery and co can see some of them in a competitive game for 90 mins,  it will mean some big players have more recovery time before 3 games in 7 days starting Sunday.

The League Cup isn't that many extra games is it? I know it's not the most glamorous trophy but I'd be thrilled if we won. In my life two League Cups is all we've won. I'll always be grateful for it.

Assuming we get through Wycombe tomorrow we'll be one game away from a Quarter Final, so I'd definitely like us to take this vaguely seriously.

I'd start Emi over Gauci for instance.

I see your point but there may come a time when we need to call on Gauci if Emi gets injured so far better for him to be given time on the pitch in a meaningful game ahead of that.

Gauci, Ned, Carlos, Pau (first half and see how it's going), Maatsen, Bogarde, Barkley, Ramsey, Buendia, Duran, Bailey.
Should be more than enough to win.

I agree. And the same goes for others who aren’t first choice right now. We also need to guard against injuries to pivotal players. I’d change most of them and put trust in the squad.

Was it not at Wycombe where our subs were playing a game with chewing gum on the bench and Micah Richards got into it with the fans behind the dugout? If so, it'll be nice to go down as a unified and well-oiled Villa team instead and hopefully give a better account of ourselves.

That Cock Richards has a lot to answer for.

We have had some right arseholes over the years at Villa but as Club Captain he takes the biscuit.

I was at that game. Like many fans I went along expecting, in a season of utter misery, at least to see a victory. What I got was another abject performance and a display of arrogance and contempt from so-called senior professionals.
I loathe how Richards regularly brings up his "antics" at Villa Park (especially that relegation season) with Gary Lineker. It was a shameful episode.
To think he is now listed on the lion in the new club shop as a captain of our illustrious club. I'm still seething.

Man City play their cup game tomorrow too which means they'll only have had two sleeps since their last game. Three sleeps is the usual minimum between games. Everyone is bullying City just now, it seems horribly unfair.

I think Unai would have made more changes to the starting XI for Wolves if we didn't have this game soon after. I'm hoping for and expecting pretty much the full 'B' team for this one.
