Don't start any of the 11. Result is what it is. Bigger fish to fry.

Whats the worst team we could pick?

Gauci

Kosta
Bogarde
Swinkles
Maatsen

Philogene
Barkley
Buendia
Young
JJ?

Duran

Even that should be enough.

Well, Olsen would be worse than Gauci, so, that.

---- Gauchi ----------

Ned Bogarde Swinkels Maatsen

Bailey Barkley Philogene Young

      Duran  Buendia

Assume Buendia would be a little deeper.

I'd play Carlos with Bogarde.

Yup, although Philo instead of Bailey, perhaps.

Mings and Kamara on the bench for a few minutes late on would be nice

The risk with starting a strong team is that we don't get it done early, and everyone ends up playing way longer than planned. This happened at least once in Europe last season. The risk with starting a "weak" team is that we don't get it done at all.

On paper we should be able to make a lot of changes and still win comfortably, but on paper we shouldn't have been losing 0-2 to Everton, and we shouldn't have been losing 0-1 to Wolves for 70 minutes.

I think Maatsen, Nedeljkovic/Bogarde, Bailey, Barkley, and Duran should start. Assuming we're home and hosed by the hour mark, some of the other starters can be subbed off.

I suspect Unai might make the same mistake. We will probably get through this round, but fully expect us to chuck the next one.

After almost 2 years we all know where the Managers priorities lie and it isn't the domestic cups, and certainly not the League Cup so expect a scratch team.

I's still love to win this again but it seems churlish to get sniffy about it.

Was it not at Wycombe where our subs were playing a game with chewing gum on the bench and Micah Richards got into it with the fans behind the dugout? If so, it'll be nice to go down as a unified and well-oiled Villa team instead and hopefully give a better account of ourselves.
