Start of November I'm going to start a Champions League contender thread- Premier League edition. For discussion of qualifications to Champions league Top 4 position.
No more new threads till then but that will be next one. The win today sees us 3rd in the league and come November we coud even be top!!
Well we do already have a thread called 'Champions League' in which it is possible to discuss the Champions League, our performance in the Champions League, what we think of the Champions League, future qualification for the Champions League, and, in fact anything to do with the Champions League concerning Aston Villa.
What is different about the proposed new thread?
Yes, lets use that thread from now on for our permanent stay in the CL.

As it hit the net I was stunned rather than excited we’d just scored as the replays of all angles, wow just wow.
We sit the upper north right in the centre. When he teed up I shouted "no, don't" but obviously Jhon ignored me. >:( As the ball travelled towards us looking at it's trajectory about 10 yards out it was too high and I expected it to sail over the bar by a foot. And then it was ripping the net apart. Unfuckingbelievable. For an old git I celebrated shamefully ;D

Walking to the game yesterday at around 5.00 there was hardly anyone about
I was with my eldest daughter and son-in-law and I said are you sure we’ve got the right day
Maybe people got there a lot earlier because of the getting in fiasco last time, I don’t know

But I do know that the atmosphere was flat inside the ground yesterday, whether that was anything to do with the ticket prices I don’t know, it brightened up a bit in the second half, but that was because we came back from a 2 nill reverse, but even then it wasn’t as totally mad as it should’ve been

Happy to report that I got straight in with no problems and the bogs were not fully floating

From a similar position in the stand, I totally agree. It looked for all the world it was too high  and then just suddenly dipped wildly down. From ground level it didn't balloon up as much as it looked though, but still spun and curled.

Not a fan of the advertising hoardings, it was like being at Walsall Illuminations. On acid.

There speaks the voice of experience.

I don't think I have seen one like that since Chris Nichols League Cup scorcher all those years ago.
We went the long way round to win it but we are back in top 4 so as ever onwards and upwards!

Watched this in a pub with a lot of neutral fans as a precursor to my brother's birthday do. He was ready to cancel everything after half an hour.

I know there's a lot of laughing at Everton but it showed great resilience to come back like we did. We've become one of those annoying big clubs who don't lose very often and long may it continue.

After the negativity recently it was great to get back to football and the positivity of Emery's reign.

So many people have remarked how they were still confident of a win even after going 2 nil down so you see what impact the manager has both on and off the field.

We seem to have more variety in the squad that enables us not only to change games but too see them out as well, it feels that we're in a different phase of Emery's tenure and so far we have absorbed the loss of Luiz fairly well. Injuries will come but hopefully our bad luck from last term has been used up.

I am watching the game on the telly now .These balls on cones dotted around the pitch make it look like there is a giant game of Parker Brothers 'Escape from Colditz' going on.

Why did Emery get a yellow?
For being insufficiently demanding in his way.

I thought it was for failing to connect with our supporters.

To this day I’ve never worked out the rules to that game.

Why did Emery get a yellow?

Encroached on pitch whilst shouting at Barkley.

As a fairly objective observer on the half way line I thought the atmosphere was good yesterday. Crowd silenced by Everton goals but no booing at HT as is traditional. It didn’t get loud before the end because crowd was nervous but explosion at the end.

Lots of people arrived early because of a combination of the delays last game and the 5.30 kick off meant people got there earlier as bored in the afternoon.

I would play Carlos and Barkley on Tuesday but we’ll see!
