Excellent comeback win, the positives all covered by previous posts but the biggest for me is that I don’t think we’ve even got going yet.

Off to watch that Duran goal again. My word.

Even at 2 down, I had a feeling we'd come back. That goal was ridiculous.

To obtain the results we have while not playing as well as we can and coming from two down to win, says an awful amount about the team spirit and will to win of this team. Well done Villa.

Absolutely. The whole “Fergie time” as much as it’s related to time added on games, really was a demonstration of mental strength. About how many times his teams found ways to get something from games despite not always playing well. They played to the very end. And Emery said something to that affect in his interview today. That we kept playing to the plan even when were 1-0 and 2-0 down. Coming back to win games was practically impossible for us as a club in the past, but we are learning it now, and importantly how to win in many different ways.

Great result in the end. Two things today.

Did anyone see Emery going ape-shit for what seemed an age in the second half. I think his ire was aimed at Barkley ?

The other thing . I was in the Upper Trinity when Duran's thunder bolt hit the back of the net. Were the celebrations a bit muted (myself included) as supporters almost seem shocked/dazed or just unable to comprehend the strike for a few seconds after it hit home ?

Name a better struck shot than Duran’s goal. Don’t say Savo, Jhon’s is better.

Only better struck shot I've ever seen at VP was that Paul Scholes goal against us.

That Paul Scholes goal is the only goal against the Villa that I've applauded!
I and many others applauded the Cruyff goal for Barcelona at VP in the Eufa Cup in 1978

Agree
We missed out getting an upgrade on Carlos during the close season.
Some no nonsense fucker.
Tyrone will be back soon to give us greater defensive stability.

If we had Bailey, I think we would have won that with a similar scoreline as last year, if not more. McGinn kept on checking back and Bogarde seemed to have been ordered to stay in a defensive three so wouldn't go forward or overlap. (Although he did a couple of times around the 68th minute and was ignored when in acres.)

Young was begging to be run at and turned and we never did.

There was a bit of an Everton exodus when Durans ball hit the back of the net.

For people who watched on the box, was DCL offside when he ran through and we all seemed to stop, he fucked it anyway and ended up with a corner. We were sure the flag was going to go up but it didn't.

And did he foul/trip Pau when he went through later?

He was possibly offside, and it was a great defensive jab at the ball, not a miss.

VAR should have checked because Everton got the advantage with the corner.

If VAR checked for possible offsides before corners, games could last days.

Yes! I’d love it!

Please make the red and white digital advertising stop.

Very distracting .At certain times it gets that bright , it looks like we don't need floodlights !

Lee Carsley. England's temporary coach. Until he gets given the job full time in January.

Start of November I'm going to start a Champions League contender thread- Premier League edition. For discussion of qualifications to Champions league Top 4 position.
No more new threads till then but that will be next one. The win today sees us 3rd in the league and come November we coud even be top!!

Yes, we missed Bailey. To be fair to Everton they weren’t terrible, they put a lot of effort in but the dated football they play is the reason they are where they are.
