This has been posted on here before I think;

I can’t believe how blurry I looked six years ago.  ;D

Hang on. You're not Dean Smith are you?  :o

Are wearing glasses?

Is the first game of 'Guess Who' on H&V?

Yes wow.

Got tearful at the end just reading it.

Ezri’s call to arms before the final… now Amadou’s story.
Exemplification. I really needed that.

Tyrone’s eloquence including putting Priti Patel in her place.

McGinn’s down to earth jovial incessent drive that’s had him step up to every level.

Ollie’s maybe too good natured personality, persistence and learning to find his fire.

Little Emi’s refusal to give up, big Emi’s actual loyalty that had the vision of winning trophies and talking us up beyond what others saw likely (even us?), as well as general bonkersness (and own humble story).

A sense of (relative) wholesomeness/craft/down to earth talent and effort from Youri, Morgan, Boubacar

King Unai’s phenomenal drive and obsessive work, vision and utter talent. A visionary.

I’m a bit old to be having heroes, and at least one Unai is older than me, but yes as said are we not blessed to have some good people (it would be easy to write more, there is stuff I like about Cash, Digne, Pau, Bizot, Lindeloff.)

A fellow midlander ex-pat in these parts wrote “these *are* the good old days” about the Villa of today.
It’s good to bear in mind we’ll look back and miss this era one day.

Yes, but not so much if we keep pushing on.

Meh, they're no more heroic than all you good folk who post on here every day.

I agree with both of you.
Having good men playing for the club, men somewhat worthy of looking up to in their personalities, doesn’t preclude some amazing and quietly heroic folk here. Both/and.

And yes, my hope is that we are less than half way through the Emery years.
I’ve seen criticism of him but saw a clip of Justin on the overlap fan forum and thought he spoke up for us well, including the fact if we get successive CL qualification and and bit more £reedom then why can’t we win the league.

I was lucky enough to have been a kid taken to VP and beyond in the early 80s, and being out of the midlands my adult life talking about Villa it’s been sad to say to folk it’s been pretty downhill ever since those days. An opportunity now to savour a sense of otherwise.
