He's gone up a level thanks to bringing some discipline to his game. Playing the defensive midfielder role alongside Youri has obviously helped. It may not be the most glamorous but it really suits his strengths and makes us overall a better team.

How he didn't score/cause a goal with his header at the corner is baffling. Tremendoud leap from him as he was foot above the keepers arms when he made contact.

He was incredibly unlucky, did everything right but he was just so high he couldn't get it to dip quick enough to sneak in.

Definitely unlucky. It could easily have bounced back onto a keeper or defender, and actually almost went in as an OG from the first defenders reaction.

At the risk of jamming it, it is probably his longest spell for us uninjured as well.

Finally showing a bit of form. At least we should get our money back on him.

Yeah, and the rest. If we were going to sell him. Which we won't.

I don't think I've ever seen a player head it 'down' onto the crossbar before. I have no idea how high he actually got, but it felt like you should measure it in miles, not feet.

Watched it back now - he was excellent. He continued what he started again at Lille, disrupting the opposition in both halves of the pitch. Makes a huge difference.
Are you Unai in disguise ?😉

One positive from today - it should be absolutely self evident and indisputable that he makes a big difference to our side.

Hope Fulham shove the 3 points up his arse today.

Can be quality but getting p*ssed off with his lack of reliability.

Hopefully this is a precautionary injury rather than the usual Villa one of it being a detached kneecap.

Sounds like it was something he could have played with but Emery decided we had enough that we didn't need to risk him.

Emery said he doesn't know if he'll be available for Thursday.

Knee injury apparently. He's already suggested we have adequate cover with Bogarde and Luiz. But that could be typical Emery obfuscation.
