If anyone caMe close to offering 50m i would sell him in a heart beat.
I think we'd do well to get £30 tbh.

Then what is the point in selling him?  This is a squad game and if he goes and we get an injury to Kamara or Bogarde, we are down to Barkley (who is only just coming back into the fold) and Linderlof out of position.  Unless we take McGinn or Tielemans out of their better positions further forward.
Wages.  We could re-innst the £30m, be no worse off financially and get someone useful in.  Could prob have got Luiz for that for example.

I did thing we missed Luiz at times last season but to be honest, he had a nightmare at Juve and I'm not sure how he'll fare with Dycheball. Maybe Unai felt we'd got what we could out of him.

Man of the match for Forest last night anyway. Does seem to pick up more injuries than he used to with us, suspect he let his conditioning slide a bit at Juve. But he's an outstanding player at his best. If we had the chance to bring him back during the summer and passed it up - that was a poor decision. Steps back in for Tielemans no problem. Same for Grealish, passed him up for whatever reason, but found the budget to get Sancho in instead at the last minute

I miss Dougie, one of my favourite Villa players for many a year, I miss his VAMOS goal celebration but going back never really works that well at Villa, unless your Gordon Cowans.

Stan Staunton did ok second-time round. Still find it mad that Axel Tuanzebe has had three stints with us and he's only 27.

He was really good in the second spell, in the 10 game run…best song in recent years too.

He should be a colossus in midfield, but he just seems to be a bit meh

For the price we paid for him he must be one of the worst pound for pound players we have ever bought.

I like him and when he started last season with a few goals I thought he was the real deal but I’d take Dougie over him every day of the week

It doesn't have to be Douglas Luiz, but a Douglas Luiz-style player is a better fit for the way we play than this bloke.

Someone comfortable receiving the ball in tight spaces and moving it on at just the right moment.

This bloke isn't that sort of player. For a big unit, I'm also surprised how often he is muscled off the ball. That would be one area you'd expect him to excel.

O Rlly??  £9.5m on Bosko Balaban?  That in the era when a £10-12m player was still a massive signing, to pluck the first example from the air.

We've ceratinly paid over the odds, though.  Can see a trip to Saudi on the cards, and I'd take £30m if it goes back into the squad for a player on 15k per week less.

Balaban was about 6m, still a fair chunk mind.

Hemmings or Borland might fit the bill.

Whenever people ask me about our worst ever signings Balaban is always the first name I quote. Unbelievably shit for us though I remember somebody posting on here that he went back to have a decent career in Croatia.
