Sven didn’t sing it did he?  The bloke is Irish at the of the day.

Well he played for Ireland by virtue of having one Irish grandparent.

I thought it was because him and his dad were regulars in the 3Cs in Chelmsley Wood. We sing the (Irish) national anthem in there at the end of the Sunday night disco, and when the old ladies go round doing their charity collection, people wind them up by putting their money in and saying ‘bullet for a Brit’. (It’s not).

Didn't both coaches say they were relying mostly on the other coaching staff for squad/team selection this time around? Not sure why anyone would be expecting any kind of sweeping changes in selection or tactics.

Lescott and Cole are coaches with Carsley.
Can't imagine they have greatest tactical accumen.
And actually Heimir Hallgrímsson is a quality coach and perfect for for Ireland I don't think England Carsley will have a straightforward match and it would only be the players being higher quality that beats Ireland wont out think the Icelandic manager

Awful national anthem.

I know. Imagine having a national anthem paying tribute to a parasite.

Hmm. I'm all for giving Carsley a chance, but his picking Maguire has just bumped up my Fuck-Him-Off-o-Meter to a solid 7.5.

Could be worse. I thought an Aardman Animations film was coming on when I heard it.  ;D

Glad Konsa is not playing...this game is a bit tasty. England look more direct already.

As predictable as Duran scoring against West Ham, I think.
