The first of Sprake's two notorious errors came in 1967 when Dirty Leeds played Liverpool in a League game at Anfield. Sprake was holding the ball and was set to throw it to the Dirty Leeds left back Terry Cooper, only to curtail his throw when he spotted Liverpool winger Ian Callaghan running towards the area he planned to throw the ball. Unfortunately for Sprake, the ball slipped out of his hands behind him and ended up in the net. At half-time, the Liverpool tannoy-announcer played "Careless Hands", by Des O'Connor.

No that was much worse, he threw the ball into his own net unassisted.

Absolutely amazed that so many Sunderland fans gave up on their team with a good 15 minutes to go.
The images of people leaving on 82/83 minutes with the team just 2-1 behind was ridiculous.

'The referee's call of no penalty for the challenge by van Dijk on Guehi is checked and confirmed by VAR' deeming that the challenge was not sustained holding and had no impost on the play'

What a load of rubbish.

They are analyzing the penalty now after the game and it’s blatant. Dermot Gallagher as usual a fence post up his arse never wanting to call out former refs or VAR.
