I like Foden as a player but he hasn't really shone consistently for England. Probably the most underperforming England player of the last few years.

Well, maybe. I think the Ireland football team are massive net beneficiaries of the looser interpretations of the rules so can't really complain too much.

The Ireland cricket team have more legitimate grounds to criticise, bearing in mind England just nick their best players even if they're not, in any way, English.

Isn’t that due to Ireland not being members of the ICC for a long time though? I think it’s going to change now that they have a test side.

Not sure. The test side hardly ever get to play any actual test matches and aren't part of the World Test Championship. I reckon if Ireland produce any more Morgans, England will be after them, again.

I believe the aim for Morgan was always to play for England, not out of any familial interest but because Ireland couldn’t offer him the level of play his talent matched.
