I think Country House gets slated because of everything that happened after. It certainly isn't the best Blur song, but it is a really well crafted song and stands up better than a lot of stuff from back then.

Roll With It was shit. Noel Gallagher could have released some of their bloody b-sides and had a better shot at the number one.

Roll With It, I think it was up against. But neither are much cop!

I think you're right there, on both counts. I was an Oasis man (kid) at the time but even by their standards I thought both tunes were 'ringing it in'.

Exactly......in the matter of Blur v Oasis, the answer is The Auteurs

Blur were a bit bland, but Oasis were bloody terrible

Roll with it sounded perfect sang by 40,000 of us at Wembley after we beat dirty leeds 3-0

The Villa crowd has the collective voice of an angel, we could make anything sound beautiful.

Did they Villa-fy the lyrics?

You've got the Holte with you,
You gotta take your time,
You gotta play what you play,
Don't let anybody get in your way.

Good effort, was trying to think of a Villa player who would scan with the sound of the word "Roll", maybe "goal" instead.

When the fixtures are announced, as certain as night follows day, there will be no matches between the 'Sky 6' on the final day of the season, the 'Sky 6' have an arrangement with the Premier League. This will now be 16 seasons, that this has happened.

I don't think it's an "arrangement", as such. More just that Sky/BT know they'll get decent viewing figures in the opening and closing weekends and would rather spread the "big" games out through the season.

That is disgraceful and surely against competition "fair play" rules.

I have always suspected that the fixtures are "massaged" to ensure supadupa mega weekend for sky - which seemingly happens often.

Although the fixture list fucked Spurs over at the end of the season so tough shit to them.

There's an argument you'd rather play the higher-rated clubs later on if they're not that bothered.

Obviously you don't want Man City in the run-in if they need wins, but I can remember last day victories against less than fully-arsed Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal teams, off the top of my head, and we were one of the top teams last year and I bet Palace aren't too upset that they had to play us last.

16 seasons? Was there a top six 16 years ago? It was still the top four as I recall. Man City and Spurs hadn't yet caught up with the other four.

So what you are saying is that in 2009, the Premier League decided that two teams that had finished 8th and 10th the previous season and never played in the Champions League before, should be protected as part of the elite?

2008/09 Spurs 8th, Man City 10th
2007/08 Spurs 11th, Man City 9th
2006/07 Spurs 5th, Man City 14th

There's clearly at the very least an unwritten rule that says that big clubs won't play each other on the first or last day of the season. Because they rarely do, and the odds of that happening every year if there wasn't some intervention are miniscule.
