Yeah he was, but he was fantastic in the 9 points we got against the two best teams in the league so you know.

Yep. But the games outside of the that? Not so much. One to move on in the summer.

Very strange game. They went 2 nil up but we were much the better side. In that period there were two really poor decisions that went against us; the Duran body check penalty and the Anderson handball. Both of which were clear decisions both of which both the ref and VAR did nothing to address. After that we fell apart. Special mention for Carlos who was absolutely pathetic today.

Agree with all of this.
Carlos has played some very good games, but mostly he has been dire. It was a serious injury, and some players never fully recover.
I think he played for Brazil a few times before he signed for us.

Quite possibly. But my point is more he gets plenty of stick, but in some massive games he has been one of our best players.

He did not.

But his best years did coincide with a lot of very good Brazilian centre-backs.

Won gold at the Olympics with them, but no proper matches.

The one thing that Unai repeats, erm, consistently, is the need for consistency. 8/10 performances in 2 or 3 games is no good if you get 4 or 5/10 in the other 7 or 8. I think he's one who could definitely be moved on.

A fabulous day. Fans in full voice, stadium rocking and what a performance. Love this team.

Yeah and I think that’s probably ok. But on the consistency point we have been chopping
and changing defensive combinations (out of necessity) so much. I suspect that is difficult, particularly for some players.

OK. He "received a late call-up to the Brazil squad for two 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Venezuela and Uruguay".

Won't be getting any more call-ups, late or otherwise, anytime soon.

Fair play to the lads who went as road cones. And Buzz Lightyear.

The atmosphere was just fucking brilliant. Everything else just mattered to the people that weren't there.
After reading back through the thread, all I can see is people saying we got battered but who cares really. Nobody seems to be saying it actually, really matters.

Thanks for that important clarification.

First club since Norwich in '93 to concede 60 goals and finish top four (and they had four extra games). We're nowt if not entertaining. Seem to remember they ended-up with a negative goal-difference which is quite special.
Norwich finishing 3rd on a negative GD is still one of my favourite football stats.

It was poor, but we clearly checked out after Tuesday (Unai said as much). It was the first game in 18 months that didn’t have some form of pressure on it and we were decimated by injuries. They deserve a pass, and after good preparation we’ll be in great shape next season.

We were fortunate we were playing a mid-table team rather than one involved in the chase for a European spot, or in a title/relegation battle.

I think if we were playing someone playing to stay up we'd have played a much stronger team than today purely out of duty to the league (and we'd have likely been fined).
