The game itself was an irrelevance in what was a truly outstanding season . As Monchi tweeted earlier this week the club are already planning for next season. Onwards and upwards.

Terrible and I do care. Totally disrespectful of the loyal travelling fans. They deserved much better than this. A great season but why sign off so unprofessionally?

Levico is right. This team owed us a performance. Was it too much to ask? Such total let downs. Sack the lot of ‘em. And Unai too.

Keep Unai, we may need him for the relegation battle next season

Was prepared to give him more time but after today's blatant display of nepotism, get rid and bring back Stevie G.

Is it too late to give up fourth place in shame?

Totally agree with you. Emery is really TSM3, way out of his depth in this league. This morning on Skysport in their season's review all 3 pundits agreed that he should be manager of the year. Manager of the year...my foot. Get rid.

Drummond. No, my English is evidently shit. ;-)

Now, back to the post. Those who went to the game had a fantastic time, I understand. And some of those who didn't had a moan. And you think they shouldn't because it was ace at Selhurst Park. Is that about right?

No problem with that result…although I’m sure Unai / Monchi and co won’t need reminding that defence is the priority for the summer…a little reminder once the work was complete won’t go amiss :-)

Away fans sounded awesome….party time!

Yeah it was a non stop party. Everyone just crowded in, I'm not sure anyone was at their right seat, we most certainly weren't. Great fun. The match felt like an exhibition. We have definitely seen a few out on the pitch in a Villa shirt for the last time...

The thing is though the away fans who were there in the away end and have posted in this thread generally don't seem to care at all we lost 5-0, more like what an amazing atmosphere it was and just part to be an occasion where we know we've finished 4th and achieved something we haven't for decades (now the next step is actually winning something).

It was one of those games where I think going you kind of knew what you'd signed up for with a weaker team being put out and danger players would just go through the motions when every other game in the last six weeks has been massive pressure to get a result.

And it's a day out in London aswell so I doubt the club is going to get any refund requests.

Fucking terrible result but despite that, I hope those that there enjoyed the day. I've been there and done it. Those who go away a lot make freinds, they'll have had a beer, a chat and say cheerio until August. And why not? What a fucking season it's been.

UTV!

It was poor, but we clearly checked out after Tuesday (Unai said as much). It was the first game in 18 months that didn’t have some form of pressure on it and we were decimated by injuries. They deserve a pass, and after good preparation we’ll be in great shape next season.

We were fortunate we were playing a mid-table team rather than one involved in the chase for a European spot, or in a title/relegation battle.

Palace also played without pressure but they had all their key players back.

Very strange game. They went 2 nil up but we were much the better side. In that period there were two really poor decisions that went against us; the Duran body check penalty and the Anderson handball. Both of which were clear decisions both of which both the ref and VAR did nothing to address. After that we fell apart. Special mention for Carlos who was absolutely pathetic today.

Yeah he was, but he was fantastic in the 9 points we got against the two best teams in the league so you know.
