I see David Platts back. I haven't bothered listening to him but I'll post this in the Champions League thread as it'll be the only reason he's chosen to finally acknowledge the club that made him.

I had that exact thought when I saw a bit of the interview.

Just listened to it, and is an excellent interview. He holds Villa and Sampdoria as his most special times in football.

Nice of him to remember.

Will give it a listen though.

I know what you mean, but it changed my opinion of him.
Alan McInally was very complimentary of him.

When he came back to Arsenal he tried to milk Villa receptions but there was a lot of hostility to him.

I remember him being in a box at the clock end and trying to wave to Villa supporters who then gave him abuse. He was shaking his head back.

Similarly in his first game back at Villa Park he tried to applaud the Holte End and got abuse.

I’ve always figured he went shy after that.

“We went to White Hart Lane with a game in hand over Liverpool – there wasn’t that many games left – and we beat Tottenham 2-0 to go five points clear on level games with Liverpool,” he recalled of narrowly missing out on the title.

“It was almost as if we weren’t chasing anymore. I don’t think we in the dressing room had the mentality needed to go on and win the league. With a bit of mentality we would have done.

“We were five points clear, we were flying and playing well and all of a sudden you hit the rails and you lose a few games.”

Hmm, didn't he miss a penalty against Wimbledon in the very next game which we went on to lose 3-0?

Copying this from the tickets & travel / psg away thread,
I think there may be a few g/rumblings about this if true.

My concern expressed before is it going further down the windows in the GA+ tranche meaning it’s easier to build up the history. If it as a substantial number of the 2,000 tickets kept for a club run £1600 trip, it does leave an unpleasant taste, I know much more deserving cases than me left without.

3 blocks gone to corporate / GA+ etc. folk I think estimating 600.
And to think I dreamed I had a chance on one away, folk with 3 and 2 not getting.
A freedom of info to see the actual number would be interesting.
That number might be wrong, but supposition here https://x.com/SusansDan/status/1902762814248305110?t=7H5TB9EscmATca21Vy2QSw&s=08

And as Mr Sali, Salifou pointed out to me

Yea and I’m pretty sure we had two games in hand over Liverpool and won the first to go two points clear after a superb performance at Spurs. Then missed the chance to go 5 points clear against Wimbledon.

The missed penalty was the biggest turning point in my Villa supporting life probably closely followed by not beating C*v on the same day as the fergie time win over Sheff wed.

I don’t suppose we’ll ever know but 600 tickets at £1600 a pop is nigh on a £1m. You can see Mr Heck’s reasoning even if I think he’s an utter ****** for doing it.

Where does the 600 figure come from? I would think it’s more like 200, which is the number of category 1 tickets the away club gets. I can’t imagine they’d fit another 600 on the club flight either.

For the home leg UEFA and its partners are entitled to about 1,900 tickets at this stage of the competition, and even more for the semis, which helps explain why 2nd leg tickets sold out to an earlier category than people may have expected.

Looking at the sections on the ticketing website, there was a Cat 1 section which as you say was probably 200 or so tickets but also another Hosp/GA+ section which had more. Bearing in  mind there were only 2000 tickets and I think someone said the GA areas only added up to about 1400 then its safe to assume the 600 figure is about right. That said the Cat 1 section may be this UEFA stipulated Players family and friends section in which case our allocation was maybe only 1800 in the first place which means PSG are well under the UEFA stipulated 5% of capacity for away fans.

My mate has a half share in a box in Trinity Road - near to Luke's. He's got 6 tickets - as he did for Bruges and Monaco. Taking his missus and brother and other family. On the official flight out Tuesday and back straight after the game. Club sort hotel etc and they get a drinks reception on arrival (Alan Macinally and James Chester hosted last time) then free for the evening. Lunch on match day coach to the ground and then airport after the match.
Looking at the numbers suspect there must be more than one flight out and back this time.

I just need 1 ticket when my window opens Friday, fingers crossed!

I'm in the same boat of you having only been to 2 CL games, but it looks like it's completely sold out now, or at least it's listed as sold out. Always knew it was gonna be a long shot

Mate, don’t give up. I went on at 9am this morning and it said sold out - Chico got the same message. Come 9.30 seats were on sale, albeit with error messages, being turfed out and payment not working. It felt longer but took about 15 minutes to buy a ticket.

Its my understanding that It will say sold out until you’re eligible to buy as I got the same this morning then there was availability once the window opens.

I had the same on Wednesday afternoon.

It's bedlam on there when they go on sale. Definitely felt more desperate this time than previous.
