Fuck me it was close wasn’t it? I was only concentrating on the results of the teams above us, as I didn’t think, as long as we won, anyone would overtake us. Didn’t contemplate Lille winning 6 fucking 1. Phew!

And thanks to Celtic for getting that brilliant draw at Atalanta.

Saying that, if we’d have taken our chances we could have finished sixth.

We'd have been 6th if Tyrone didn't pick up the ball.  Lots of if's buts and maybes, but though we were all watching the Atalanta game until the 99th minute, we weren't that far away from a comfortable qualification.

Yeah but we knew that before the game (the Tyrone thing). I only noticed the near-significance of the Lille rout this morning when I noticed they were seventh on the same points and goal difference. If they’d have won 5-1 we’d have been above them.

If that was between 8th and 9th we’d have been gutted with that 6th goal.

Why do the water the pitch at this time of year!? It probably contributed to the slip.

Morgan slipped scoring the 4th too, I imagine these is some sort of internal inquiry going on with the grounds staff this morning.  If there is a fine line between "a watered pitch that optimises our passing game" and "waterlogged so people slip", then we were the wrong side of it last night.

Imagine if we'd missed out to Lille on goal difference. We'd be livid.

A fantastic achievement by Villa qualifying automatically for last 16. We've come a long way in a relatively short period of time.
Btw groundsman, sort the pitch out please.

You could actually hear how wet the pitch was when the players ran down the wings by us, I have never heard it before. Anyway, to get into the top 8 of the league is incredible, and it looks like the draw will be kind to us compared to other potential teams we could be playing.

I can absolutely guarantee that you will not just “enjoy it”. You’ll be calling our players clowns etc, as usual.
