Its tight it could even  come to GD so its absolutely  crucial we avoid defeat  vs monaco. Do france  get a winter break? As we will have a very busy xmas period as we know

Annoyingly we are away on the Weds and Sat before playing Monaco on the Tuesday which is far from ideal.

Ergh just looked  it up

A EVERTON
A ARSENAL
A MONACO

As you said not ideal at all and it being arsenal as well wont be easy. We will certainly need to rotate for the last two of the three. Id consider  getting illing jr back in January.  A extra body that  could help us

What happens with Jan signings and the Champions League? In the old format, the league section was over by now and so a natural break to allow for registering new players / removing injured ones. But now the league doesn't finish to mid-feb?

I'd assume any Jan. signings wouldn't be eligible till the knockout phase. That would seem to be the easiest solution, but no idea if that's the case.

Quote
Ahead of the knockout phase, clubs can register a maximum of three new players by 24:00 CET on 6 February 2025.

Any or all of the players from the above quota of three may have been fielded for another club in the qualifying phase, play-offs or league phase of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League.

The overall limit of 25 players on List A remains, though, along with the quota of eight locally-trained players.

Some new signings early in the window would be best then. They'd be available to play the league games while a couple get rested for the CL ones.

No, they got rid of cup tied rules a few years ago.

One of the few good changes in recent years, the reasons for it ever becoming a thing had been made redundant with transfer windows anyway.

Yeah, stupid rule. Also glad they got rid of the away goals rule (in the knockout round) which was another pile of shite.

I disagree on that one, I liked the increased jeopardy.

It had its' time.

I think it was a nice relic from the old days when there was more mystery about teams but never understood extra time score as well counting. Meant home side was at a disadvantage.

With 2nd legs at homes of the teams which have done better in prior rounds extra time makes sense.

How many times have we been knocked out of Europe on the away goals rule? Too many to mention, rightly binned and forgotten with white Blues and the black and white minstrels.
