Wouldn't it be nice to have the absolute luxury today, when shuffling the squad, to have brought in say, Emi Martinez, Tyrone Mings, Kamara, JJ, Tielemans and  Buendia.

Not an excuse Emery would ever use and not one I am really making either, just a wistful thought.

Three ACLs in six months is ridiculous but at least for the first two we had time to do something about it and got in Lenglet and Zaniolo.

Yeah, that's true.

But then again, on the down side, we got in Lenglet and Zaniolo.

It’s a pen.
Please explain how that is a penalty.

His leg catches their player.
I did not see any contact with his leg, maybe I missed something. It looked to me, as soon as he felt contact he threw himself to the ground.

Maybe they just aren't very good.

Can they be any worse then the players who are dead on their feet and making the mistakes they are doing though?

I agree with you. I didn't see anything wrong with Konsa's challenge. A slight coming together but that's inevitable when players challenge each other for the ball. Compare that to the penalty we weren't given when Bailey was bought down against Olympiakos. If you were to show both incidents to a room full people of who had never seen either and ask them which one was given and which one wasn't I'd bet a pound to a pinch of salt that the majority would have it the other way round.

Well yeah but you load the answer a bit there. Bailey’s definitely should have been a pen, it was a shocker. So if you say to a group one is a penalty one is not, pick one, then Bailey’s is more obvious. They’re both penalties though.

The usual over-reaction from many. This team, this manager, are delivering our best season for a long long time. It’s really simple - we are just out of gas. If you want to find fault in that, knock yourself out.

We will finish 4th and that far outweighs my expectations last August. There is so much to look forward too.

Agree.
Amazing what we have achieved considering the injuries and inevitable fatigue.

I didn't think it was a penalty. Konsa was caught out of position but I thought he did enough to put off the forward. Contact was minimal enough.

I only saw last 30 mins or so but thought Emery should have been a lot sharper with his subs. Team looked very flat, could easily have replaced the full backs 10 mins before he did. They were warming up but he delayed and the penalty was conceded in that time.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I think the Bailey one was nailed on and the Brighton one today is debatable.

I thought we were rubbish. We looked knackered, we just didn't get going at all and well, that's more or less it really apart from getting beaten by a very dodgy penalty. As always  typically Villa, we didn't take advantage of Spuds losing. Still fucking chuffed with them all overall though.

We won't be signing either if that cheers you up given the Hermoso link is getting stronger and hopefully in August we'll have Rogers, Ramsey and Buendia all fully fit to rotate for the left hand side of midfield.

Lenglet been average but two years ago we had Hause as 4th choice CB so having a Barca player fulfilling that role is obviously an upgrade.

Yes I think it’s ok to be frustrated about an individual result/performance and still be delighted with the season overall.
