Aston Villa vs Brentford Post-Match Thread

Looking back on yesterdays game is very disappointing. We played at snails pace . Watching todays games Spurs and Yanited both worked the ball about the pitch with pace . Our defending in that 9 minute period was also comical. Emery has work to do as we are stuttering over the line rather than finishing with a burst .

I don't have a problem with how we played in the first half. Play at walking pace, control possession, score a goal, concede no chances? That'll do nicely.  It's the second half I have issue with, I don't quite know why we tend to concede goals in bursts like we do.

The issue is Brentford weren't being worked enough. They had bags of energy to have that 10 minute burst themselves. We really should have gone at it rather than walking football mode.

The players are running on empty. We've had a shit load of injuries to deal with and a gruelling Thursday/Sunday schedule. Emery is managing the squad in the best way possible. If we qualify for the Champions league it will be an amazing achievement. If we were to win the Conference league too it would be the icing on the cake but we have to accept that that there is physical and mental fatigue affecting the performances.

Reality is that as none of us are professional athletes we're all pretty clueless on how gassed they may or may not be.

 Look at what happens when we concede in a winning position? We tend to crumble. Thats my problem.

As has been pointed out with cold, hard facts many times, we don’t. We’re the joint best team in the country at not crumbling. Why can’t you understand this incredibly simple and undeniable truth?

We let slip a 2 goal lead yesterday, vs brentford.

We let a two goal lead slip at luton to get to 2-2 but luckily we scored a 3rd

We were 3 up vs forest and let forest back at 3-2 before scoring a 4th. we then let a 2 goal load slip vs burnley before scoring a pen last minute and just about winning that one. Then the week before we let a 2 goal slip vs manure losing 3-2 another collapse.

To add to my point to the RECENT games about the opposition scoring 1st. City, spurs, newcastle , chelsea (in cup) and utd at home. All those clubs scored first and guess what a total of a big fat zero points! The only one we got a point from the opposition scoring 1st was west ham up to that manure game at OT

So then you are telling me there is no pattern there?

This was rarely happe ing in 1st half of season

I don't think it's physical empty. I totally agree though they are empty mentally . And they are into unchartered waters in terms of top end Premier League pressures which also is sapping them.

Beat me to it. He’ll probably change that to ‘I meant a one goal lead twice’. His criteria for how crap we are changes more than the Villa’s back four.

He always changes the rules for his argument when each one was picked apart. I remember then he was stating about Spurs injuries and named Sessgenon as theirs in the same post stating we have to ignore Mings and Buendia because they were injured at the start of the season. He might have a good reason for not posting during the first half of the season, but the negativity to Villa, and positivity given to every other club, especially from when the season has started to tell on the squad does make me wonder.

Lost interest as soon as I saw you got something so basic incorrect. When scores that didn't happen and scores that 'almost' happened are a big part of your stats then all credibility is lost.

OK, but whats the evidence for it? You speculate there is fatigue, how do you know? What are you seeing that suggests tired?
