If Liverpool do lose today we're 1st for fewest points dropped from a winning position this season.

But i bet we are top from losing a 2 goal lead

Losing a 2 goal lead is a great Villa tradition and my eyes water with nostalgia from remembering all of those times in my early years of supporting them in the late 70s and early 80s when that happened.

One of the first games I ever went to was at home to Spurs in I think 78-79. We were 2-0 up and looking pretty much at ease going into the last 10 minutes. It ended 2-3 and yesterday was - the fact that we had enough time to get a goal back and could even have won it in the end - horribly reminiscent of that...

I remember that game - it was absolutely horrible.

The stats are flashing in bright red lights in massive fucking font and you are ignoring them. That’s some going to argue to suit your agenda.

Are they? can you explain how city have lost five times this season from a  two goal position when they have lost three league games all season 😂

So how are they flashing in front of me?

You might want to read the room. Everyone is pointing out with hard data that you’re quite misguided. That’s the flashing in front of you bit you need to latch on to. You’re clearly working very hard to justify your argument and position with little except misery and emotion.

The point around us losing points from winning positions is clearly factually wrong in terms of it being a recurring problem. Like I’ve said I think the problem is more that since the turn of the year we’ve had periods in games where we just don’t compete at all. That has cost us points, and it’s not just a bit of a drop off it’s that we pretty much stop playing. Many contributing factors, including horrible injuries, but it’s an area where we need to be better.

Well it isn't factually wrong when it is there in black and white. Obviously it does rely on us taking the lead in the first place. So it wouldn't show the Manure home match of us dropping a point because we never took a lead. And for games like City and the recent one against Tottenham, we never took a lead. But it is still a stat that shows we are still tough enough to come out of those periods when we have those spells and get the win.

When we’re in front yes, which is what I mean by it clearly being wrong that that is a recurring problem for us.

That wasnt the original point i made spmeone else mentioned the 72 game stat not me.

I mean as i said it shouldnt happen as frequently as its happened over the last few months thats the point im making. If people dont wanna agree fine but thats my opinion.

Two goal leads slip is a villa trait. To happen in Dec, yesterday and almost vs forest is worrying.  If people cant see thats a big issue i dont know what to tell you. Even ollie has acknowledged  it. So i take it ollies wrong too?

So lets get this straight. Ignore when we are in front. Ok so we have lost 7 games when we haven't been in front. And 5 draws which we haven't been in front, but four of them, we have come back from behind in. But bottling it is our recurring problem.....

Gotcha.

Losing a 2 goal winning margin has happened on 3 ocassions this season. We won 1 of those games, drew 1 of those games and lost 1 of those games. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but we've lost 5 points from winning positions.

Ah that game in 78-79! I remember Spurs blazing a good chance over the bar and me saying they’ll never score today, so it was my fault and I confess after all these years. 2-0 leads can be deadly, you think you’ve won it and if you concede it’s a totally different game (or is this just a Villa thing?)

Nope conceding multiple goals when we’re under pressure is our problem since the turn of the year. I’m not sure what’s so controversial about that statement? There have been several games where it’s happened. Doesn’t mean I’m saying we’re bottlers or a bad side, or that we’re not having a great season. But it is something we need to be better at.

The reason the 73 game stat is important is that it proves that losing when being 2-0 up doesn’t happen frequently, thus proving the basis of your argument completely and utterly flawed.

Ollie seems like a sensible lad, I’d like to think if presented with the facts like you have been, he wouldn’t keep persisting with the same flawed argument.
