It's worth remembering Rogers and Kosta came out of the summer budget. It obviously put us under more financial stress when closing the June accounts but both were very clever business. Rogers I don't need to explain, Kosta I think is going to surprise a lot of people.

Maybe he doesn't want Chalobah?
He may not be first choice, but he'd undeniably be an asset to the squad in positions where we are incredibly light.

We have two right backs, four centre backs and two left backs. At least two of the centre backs are capable in other positions across the back four. And a promising 20 year old that they seem to want to integrate into the first team squad who can play at two of those positions as well.

I think an extra body would be definitely be useful but "incredibly light" is over-egging it a bit.
A counterpoint is Cash is injured and Ned looks out of his depth at this young age.  Carlos simply isn't good enough.  Chalobah offers similar versatility to Konsa and would be ideal back up.

2 of whom are injured and won't play until October at the earliest, one is 18 and one quite prone to missing games with knocks etc. I think light is fair, especially for a CL club. I think we are in exactly the same boat as Newcastle, who have suffered again this summer with the whole PSR thing. How well Monchi and Heck have done will be clearer next summer.

Dont think everyone would have been as disappointed if illing jr and enzo were kept here as thats a squad with depth. But without them we leave ourselves abit exposed when injuries kick in

Thats especially with enzo think he would have been really handy to keep

So it's transfer deadline day today, closes at 23:00hrs, even though it's not the 1st September until Sunday.
Anyway, i expect there will be a flurry of activity in the PL, be surprised if we do any more business.

But with respect, you thinking they're not good enough doesn't mean we're incredibly light. It's pretty clear that Kosta is part of the first-team squad this season for better or worse. And given we could have sold him and chose not to, it indicates that they are comfortable with DC being so as well.

So presumably we don't think Chalobah is worth asking for as we're comfortable with Kosta and DC being the cover in the position he would be covering.

You're definitely right on the second point. It's obvious we would have loved to go and chuck £200m at our position, but just like Newcastle last season we can't.

On the first, we can't just bring in players permanently or for a whole season to cover a month or so of injuries. When Mings and Buendia were out for the season we had to react. If Mings had just tweaked his groin against Newcastle last season, I'm pretty confident we wouldn't have paid for a year of Lenglet to deal with it.

We might (and probably will) get a couple of season-enders in the few hours after the transfer window closes, as that's just how we like to do things. But we're not in a position to stockpile expensive footballers just for the "what ifs".

Kamara and Mings being injured doesn't negate the quarter of million we're paying them both in wages every week. Of we have to wait until October, then that is part of the problems we've faced and have had to accept.

Neds barely played and you're saying he looks out of his depth, it's a bit ridiculous really.

Chiesa for 10m thats a great deal surely would have been worth a punt at that price

He hasn't kicked on after a very impressive Euros a few years ago, had a bad injury though so as you say worth a punt at that price. Going to be hard to get minutes in that Liverpool front three.

Always thought Jota would be a great signing for us but very unlikely.

Liverpool can afford to gamble on a sicknote. We cannot, given we generate our own.

Donk off so we may well have wiggle room for wages on a loan.

With Bazza at Valencia on loan, think that leaves Tielemans, Onana, Barkley and Kamara to come in DM.

Bogarde has played in midfield I think.

Maybe Mings and Kamara are indeed not too far away.

Thats a interesting and good point ads. We might not agree on a lot today but i see where you are going with this.

One thing that FFP doesnt take into consideration is long term injuries like we had. Why do not make exceptions if you have x amount of long term injuries? Thats another major flaw with this system.

Its interesting hearing newcastle howe today saying they have issues with FFP. But i swear they were trying to spend 60m on guehi. Something dont add up
