Oh for certain. A right sided defender that's comfortable at right back and centre half is the only thing we should be concerned with tomorrow.

Our attack is fine over the course of a season, if we stop conceding so many. If most games we still need to score 2+ to have a chance of 3 points then we're fucked.

He’s not even our best left back at the moment!

And certainly wasn’t Chelsea’s!

The Chelsea that had to qualify for the Conference League tonight, over the side that got beat in the European Cup final and were in pot 1 of the Champions League draw? Turn it in.

Maatsen will be our starting left back before too long once settled.

Is signing Europe's best left back basic?

We signed Alex Grimaldo as well?

We may appear to have missed out on Geertruida, but he's going to be a first choice at an established Champions League club rather than 4th choice here.

I'm very much on the glass-more-than-half-full side here, but that's just...a bit silly.

What's silly about it? He'd not be ahead of Mings I reckon, and definitely behind Konsa and Torres. Possibly first choice Right Back, but I'm not sure, and as for his midfield credentials he's way down the pecking order if he comes to us.

The fact that he'd have been coming in as first-choice right back.

The player that most of us had not heard of a few days ago isn't coming at all though, so what's the point in bickering over him?

Oh right, the one everyone was saying was a replacement for Carlos, the Centre Back in the squad? You're right, silly.

I wonder if we might be offered Chalobah in the last few hours on loan.

It will be better than him just being in exile at Chelsea and he can play RB and CB so gives us good cover in both positions.

Was talk of him going Palace but I assume Marc Guehi is staying there now and they're in talks to sign a Wolfsburg CB.

I have a hunch we'll sign someone as we've nearly sold an outfield team this summer so while the squad is younger and fresher when you look at the age we are very young in parts of the pitch.

Injuries will also hit at some stage so I'd rather have more than three senior CBs in the squad.

Our defence was good enough to get us top four, has been upgraded, and is better protected than before with Onana in front of it.

I'm far from convinced we will be able to replace the attacking contributions of Luiz and Diaby. When we went behind on Saturday there wasn't anyone on the bench that I fancied to get us back into it.

If I could have one player tomorrow, it would be a super party time dribbling skillsy fun attacker, not a defender.

(Defender who can play right back or centre-half would be second choice).

If they were (and they weren't) then I'm pretty sure they've never seen him play before. Because he's a right-back. Who has filled in, very occasionally at centre-back. When needed.

Or maybe, at a time when we seemingly have to sell another academy player to justify every last penny that we spend, we decided the number one priority was to spend £30m on a fourth choice auxiliary centre back.

Who, in his occasional few minutes off the bench would be playing out of his favoured position. That he's played for most of his career. Which is right-back.

No issues selling Luiz , I was getting tired of watching Emery bollock him, good player but slowed the game down too much, Diaby was just a flop and we made great profits plus his heart was clearly in Mecca .
It's just disappointing we didn't buy a striker or retain Archer  , a winger and tighten up that porous defence . It's already costing us.

I had him in to come in as first choice RB, especially with Cash's injury. Ah well.

Over the course of the season our defence was crap. We're the only club in the last 20 years to concede 60 or more in the PL and finish top 4. In that time only a couple of other sides have done it while conceding 50 or more. If we concede 60 plus again the odds of us winning a trophy or finishing top 4 again are slim.

Maybe, but a tenth of those were in the first game when hadn't woken up yet and the last game when we'd spent the previous week in the pub because nobody cared.

Five teams scored more than us, six teams conceded fewer than us, so about the same.

We've upgraded our defence and significantly downgraded our attacking options.

Attacking player, please.

Should have signed Madueke months ago when I said, no chance now. Ill take Monchi's wages, please.
