Perce, you missed Feeney my friend.

Sorry, there's always one numpty who corrects........

I think I read earlier in the thread that Feeney’s come back due to injury.

And no need to apologise, corrections is what I was hoping for.

He’s come back for treatment, but his loan has not been cancelled. Last I saw he was estimated to be out for 3-4 weeks.

Interesting with Illing-Junior looking like he’s going to go on loan, Dobbin gone already, things being a bit unclear about Barrenchea. From our summer transfer business, are potential first team starters are who-Onana, Maatsen, Barclay and Bidace?

If Barrenchea is off on loan maybe it will be in Jan when Kamara will be back and up to speed? I’d keep him around for Cup games and experience to be honest, don’t think a Champ loan will do much for one of the better young players in Italy last year.

On players from last season's squad, Dendoncker and Carlos could move out and Luts Geertruida come in.
He’s Champions League-ready and can play in both defence and defensive midfield, covering the outgoings of two players.I think also bringing in Lo Celso or someone for creative play is also essential as an extra Champions League-ready midfielder.

I mean, it may even turn out to be defender like Joe Gomez or Trevor Chabolah and then someone like Anrdreas Pereira who are solid Premier League players, but I think current choice targets are Geertruida and Lo Celso.

Certainly see two maybe three first team squad players come in to provide options if Dendonker and Carlos are transferred out. And the Juventus exchange players deemed not ready for the squad

Lo Celso would be underwhelming in the extreme. I just don’t think he’s mobile and physical enough for the premier league. Hes not a bad player but don’t think he’s good enough for where we want to be / are.

That’s a fair point on the physical side. Technically and tactically though he could do what Emery wants straight away and that’s important being so close to the season.
Perhaps linked to the physical side I notice he’s had some injury issues and hasn’t played so much at all for Spurs last season. Though didn’t he score against us?

I guess so far Emery hasn’t brought in one of his favourites from previous clubs so maybe it’s just linkage that won’t happen in reality.
Lo Celso was all set for World Cup couple of seasons ago but was unfortunately injured and he was Argentina stand out midfield player in qualifying with performances.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fulham are going to sign Joachim Anderson from Palace after talks to sign Diego Carlos "collapsed".
No clues as to why the move didn't happen.

That’s now both Duran and Carlos. From our side it gets said the buyers don’t meet the requested transfer fee.

Philogene, not Bidace.

Thank you! I thought I was the only one who finds it annoying enough to correct.

I really can't see Lo Celso happening. He's a central midfielder and occasional attacking midfielder, and we're absolutely rammed in those spots. We need another proper forward attacking option. I'd go for Zaha on a loan, personally.

Zaha, Sterling (if Chelsea pay some of his wages) or Madueke would all be good choices.

Madueke looked good when we played them, maybe a loan until next year when we can flog them some embryo to offset the fee.

Was there something about Zaha not being popular with some of our players for some personal reason, a nagging half rememberance…

Zaha has been rubbish in Turkey & will be on big wages. Sterling is on £300k a week and on a downward (quick) spiral. Madueke is decent but we’ve got Bailey (& Philogene). If we want an attacking player it should be someone who plays more centrally

Nope. Philogene is cover. We need a Diaby replacement. If anything happens to Bailey we are in trouble.

So moreno and illing jr likely to be going too. I think illing jr should stay but moreno can go. All it takes is digne or maatsen getting injured and we are light at lb

You could say that about any position - if someone gets injured, then we're light! Two players of similar (top) quality in each position is the gold standard and where we're nearly at for the first time in our Villa-suffering lives. Cherish it, y'know?

Chelsea might have 3 right backs or 8 goalkeepers, see how that works for them.
