How did Gertrude do today? Hope he's at the Belfry by Wensday and in the squad for Arsenal.
Lutsy played in defence today in Feyenoord 5-1 away win.

Andy Gray
“I heard a couple of rumours when I was back in the UK that Villa and Emery were seriously thinking about enquiring about him, let’s just say that,” said Gray. “I’m not quite sure where Villa sit with the Financial Fair Play, I know they sold Douglas Luiz but they’ve brought a few in and spent a lot.
I don’t know whether Jhon Duran’s proposed transfer to West Ham not happening maybe softened that a bit, but there was definitely talk that Villa might be well interested in Ivan Toney”

I know it's silly season for transfer rumours but that takes the biscuit.

Wouldn't have been totally unthinkable if Arsenal's interest in Watkins was followed up earlier in the summer. With a list of 500 players as per Mochi's recent interview it's probable Toney was looked at as some sort of contingency and featured high ish on the list.

But wouldn't make sense now.

Not a player I'd want to see in a Villa shirt. For a whole host of reasons.

If we keep Duran, there is no way we are signing Toney.

There's no way we'd sign him even if Duran went. Watkins is miles ahead of Toney in every way (except penalties), we're not forking out that much money for a bench warmer. Seems completely unlikely he'd want to come and be second choice anyway.

Saudi club in for him apparently. I had a feeling it would be. Nowhere else made sense. He's backed himself into a corner really.

Chelsea can't just keep signing players surely. They have over 50 on their books. How in earth do they hit any kind of PSR model next season. Insane.

Its madness. I assume they will continue flogging youngsters for big fees. Gallagher and chalobah wi be the next two. That should give them 70m.

Its just lauughable and a mockery

It's just a version of what we've been doing, on steroids. Except we've got sensible owners and a brilliant manager so it's been done a lot more sensibly. It's exactly the same principle though.
