Thought Nedeljkovic got a bit of a lesson into what the Premier League's about. He's only 18 though, it's going to be a steep learning curve if he's going to stick around for this season. I can see why we're being linked with people like Gomez. It might be better for his development to loan him out and sell Carlos.

Nedeljkoviç got beaten a couple of times by good skill, but it was hardly a Ugo vs Norwich type debut. He's only eighteen and is only going to get better.

I like Cash but it's just hard to ignore the mistakes, which I don't think are incidental but generally a part of his positioning not being quite up to it.

I like him as a squad player, and his energy and commitment. I think Ned brings those things now though, and we need better for CL. In an ideal world I’d sell and replace Cash and Carlos but you can’t just magic up buyers, and I think we need buyers for squad size and FFP reasons.
I thought Cash was under the spotlight a bit yesterday, but then Kudus was their best player, so fair enough really.

One thing I noticed at the Bilbao friendly (and in retrospect, other games such as Lille away last season) is that he is a bit of a leader on the pitch. So it's a keep for me, at least for this year.

Ned doesn't look ready - nothing really to do with Kudus, just he doesn't yet seem to have the passing automatisms and the connection with Philogene was substandard, and as a result they both looked nervous. But I get the feeling Unai is banking on him making it.

Between them however (Cash, Ned, Konsa) we've a few different options and unless we offload or loan someone out, doesn't look to me like the upgrade is coming this year.

Surprised Carlos was on the bench yesterday to start with and then not brought on when Cash limped off. Dealing with Soucek and their other immobile lumps is his strength. Great show of faith in Kosta by Emery but Soucek equalizes late on and I expect we are questioning that decision.

I thought it was odd. Maybe he felt ought Konsa had control in the middle and didn't want to disrupt that.

Think it’s exactly that

Just saw a clip of Felix pronouncing his own name and it's not pronounced like the cat, so I don't want him anymore.

Andy Gray
“I heard a couple of rumours when I was back in the UK that Villa and Emery were seriously thinking about enquiring about him, let’s just say that,” said Gray. “I’m not quite sure where Villa sit with the Financial Fair Play, I know they sold Douglas Luiz but they’ve brought a few in and spent a lot.
I don’t know whether Jhon Duran’s proposed transfer to West Ham not happening maybe softened that a bit, but there was definitely talk that Villa might be well interested in Ivan Toney”

I know it's silly season for transfer rumours but that takes the biscuit.

How did Gertrude do today? Hope he's at the Belfry by Wensday and in the squad for Arsenal.

No idea, but I did discover the team they were playing have a player called Anselmo García MacNulty, who plays for Rep Ireland U21s.

Cash did okay yesterday, although I do wonder why he concedes so many penalties. I agree with someone above who said he needs to stand off a little more and trust himself to jockey his opponent more rather than diving in.
Interesting that Villa targeted the Wham righthand side: Digne was high up the pitch throughout, as was Maatsen. Probably the threat of Kudos. Usually we'd be expecting Cash and Bailey to be leading the attacks on our right side.
Nedeljkovic will, in my view, continue to get minutes: I think Emery sees him as high potential and a quick learner. Someone above mentioned the Soucek header near the end: Soucek was fouling Nedeljkovic in order to win the ball, but our man should have used his full height and body strength to keep him out.
