I like Cash but it's just hard to ignore the mistakes, which I don't think are incidental but generally a part of his positioning not being quite up to it.

I like him as a squad player, and his energy and commitment. I think Ned brings those things now though, and we need better for CL. In an ideal world I’d sell and replace Cash and Carlos but you can’t just magic up buyers, and I think we need buyers for squad size and FFP reasons.

My main issue with Cash is that he doesn't seem to have that creative vision that most of the other players have. When he gets forward he never seems to know what to do. Credit to him he seems to take the "keep possession" instructions to heart, but that means more often then not his forays forward just lead to the ball coming back into our own half. They also lead to him being out of position quite often too.

I think the thing to remember here is how far we have come since buying Cash, how well he has done in that time and the fact that although not a top 4 player, he is a decent Premier league right back. The problem for him is we set up now in a formation that means he's often going to be isolated and need to defend at a level he's just not quite there with.

For me yesterday showed again how we are nearly there up top, a 10 type would be the cherry on the icing rather than a pressing need, but at the back we are light. I would much sooner see us get 2 really capable defenders in than a 10, if Carlos goes. With Carlos I think we are 1 light, without, 2. Mings is nowhere near and Ned looked like he'll need time yesterday.

Not Villa related but no Toney in the Brentford squad today. Guehi and Eze both playing for Palace.

I wonder if Geertruid will be in the Feyenoord team.  They are away to Zwolle today.

Yeah i agree. Ita certainly the position we look most vulnerable in the team

If Moreno leaves, we will sign Geertruida and Kosta will go out on loan. Puts a little less pressure on moving Diego who might go also by the deadline.

In the plus column, that was a great ball from Cash for Bailey when he hit the post.

As I've said lots of times, I like Cash and until the penalty yesterday, he was playing very well. He put in one glorious tackle on one of their players that will keep the West Ham player awake at night for weeks to come. But the penalty seemed to knock his confidence and after that he didn't look nearly as good. Also, I didn't think Bailey had his best game, so our whole right side looked noticeably weaker than the left. Maatsen and Ramsey  when they came on looked absolutely fantastic.

I thought Cash and Bailey had a strong first half down that flank. Bailey's form took a hit after that miss, did a bit too much whinging too. Id have hooked him before McGinn. Cash has a horrible habit of always getting touch tight with the attacker, that's fine at times but you can get rolled easily on others. It leads to unnecessary free If he gave himself a yard or two without diving in he has the pace to run a winger down the line. I thought he did alright on Kuddus, couple of last ditch blocks but he's a very good player.

As much as Cash had a difficult second half, I thought Kosta looked very raw when he came on instead him. Soucek completely dominated him in the air for that chance at the end for example. A similar situation in the first half and Digne dealt with it very well. Philogene struggled a bit physically too. Both players are going to take a while to settle at this level.

Yes I thought Summerville gave Kosta the run around a bit.

Kosta might benefit from a loan whist Cash is still here.  Cash will always get picked as the attacking full-back option and Konsa when we want a blocker there.  Maybe that’ll happen in January once Mings is back and most the CL games have been played.
