Suppose we'll soon fine out but to my mind we have bought in two first XI players without making a really clear improvement to the side.

I am glad the noise about felix has gone away as I was not convinced by his record.
However I was expecting a "wow" statement signing. Either a huge foreign experienced guy from one of the mega clubs (Milan, Real, Barca etc) or picking off a key player from a prem side like an Eza, Martinelli, Jota, Neto etc

At the moment they have all been solid rather than spectacular

I feel quite optimistic about most of our signings, especially the younger ones. I suppose the worry is how quickly will they become the brilliant amazing world beaters that I think they have the potential to be?

Agreed. I thought the once the Diaby sale was done we would replace him with a forward that could give us that creative edge and help put his foot on it etc. Despite being top 4, it still feels like we are quite far from getting that next calibre of player.

I'm pretty confident a big name forward will be coming in this window

As long as it’s not Lukaku or Felix.

Saw a Twitter best-of vid of Lo Celso yeterday and he looked painfully left-footed. Don't we already have too many of them? I say that as a leftie myself. Most of the lazy bastards never worked on their right foot as kids cos they were the rarer species.

Romano

🔴⚪️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Conor Gallagher to Atlético has not collapsed as of tonight; but Chelsea see all deals (so also João Félix) as separate, independent.

Atlético can get Gallagher deal signed as docs are ready…

…but if they don’t, Chelsea request Conor back to London with flight booked.

I don't think we will sign anyone else as I cannot see either Carlos or Duran leaving.

I would say Carlos is definitely leaving so we’ll have someone coming in, hopefully some more switched on and commanding.

I am very surprised we have not replaced Diaby. Ignoring the argument wether you thought he had a good season or not, he was a very expensive signing last summer and used a lot. I guess we’ve been holding out for Felix, so I really hope they had a plan B.

Lo Celso is fine, but that’s all he is. Personally I think he lacks the dynamism to be a creative player in the Premier League.

Do we need to literally replace Diaby? People kept saying Diaby and Bailey couldn't play together as they were occupying the same space. So Bailey replaces Diaby on the pitch, and JJ replaces Diaby in the starting 11.

Lo Celso would just feel like another body to flesh out the squad, for an attacking midfielder (if that's what he even is?) his goals and assists record is dismal. He's never stood out any time I've seen him play.

We have

Watkins
Duran
Archer
Bailey
Philogene
Rogers
Buendia
Ramsey
Iling Junior

Who all play in advanced positions.

We've sold 2 players with nearly 40 goals and assists between them last season, I can't see that amount coming from the current crop of new signings, including a returning Buendia.
