I doubt WHAM will be after Diego now they are signing Todibo (which is a really good signing for them)

Do we think we will sign any players on loan this season? Think both Lenglet and Zaniolo were pretty underwhelming last season but could see the logic in both after Mings and Buendia went down when they did.
I think a typical Emery signing are players that are flexible and can play in multiple positions. Onana, Barkley, Iling Jr, Maatsen. Some of the younger players Bogarde, Rogers, can be used in different positions. Then you have  the likes of Donk, McGinn, Tielemans, Konsa, Cash, all played in different positions.
Part of that strategy is being able to cover injuries through the season. I think loans will only be used if we are really struggling to find a full strength squad.

Feels like we are done now, unless we get any good offers for players in and around the first team. If Carlos goes we may get a player like Geertruida. If Duran goes we may get Felix.

I don't think we would spend any money we get from fringe players like Dendonker though, as I think it is as much about managing a sensible squad size now as it is FFP.

I am hoping we do shift Carlos and Duran, as having Felix and a better RB/CB option would improve us.

Wasn’t Donk signed because Bouba got injured straight after joining us?

We were getting bullied every week in midfield at the time from memory. McGinn getting booed off, Luiz wanting out, Kamara struggling in that horrid 3 man midfield setup Gerrard had in place. Gerrard was sacked about 6 weeks after the Donk was signed and Emery settled on Kamara/Luiz very quickly.

🟣🔵 Understand Aston Villa have now agreed on deal to sign England U17 striker Mason Cotcher from Sunderland.

Contract until June 2027 to be signed today at #AVFC.

Bournemouth hold an interest in Cameron Archer.

Why do they do this? And why can't they write a complete sentence? "I understand that..." "The contract, which is..., is to be signed..." "Do you have any thoughts on this subject?"

English isn't his first language and don't think they do a claret dot.

Was surprised to see that we're the highest spenders (gross, not net) in world football this summer.

By quite a wide margin as well (c. £148m, Bayern in second at c. £122m)

I thought that was from a bit ago we’ve been passed now. Our net spend must be negligible with the players we’ve sold on. It’s as much a squad numbers game now as well, so I think the one in one out has to also do within that. We sell Diego, that Dutch lad might join. We sell one of Duran or Cam, it opens up a spot for a Felix or similar.

Not Villa but Chelsea are at it again....

"Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Pedro Neto, as @FabriceHawkins reports. Negotiations are taking place with Portuguese winger and Wolves. He’s one of the main targets for winger position.

🚨🔵 Chelsea have already reached an agreement with Pedro Neto’s agent Jorge Mendes.

No issues on salary, club to club talks ongoing to get the deal done as initial request is around £60m.

He’s top of the list for new winger. 🇵🇹

They just can't stop themselves.

The thing I read was written yesterday - who do you think has overtaken us?
