Feeney to Shrewsbury on loan according to the always-completely-accurate X.

Pete O'Rourke@SportsPeteO
Understand highly-rated Aston Villa defender Josh Feeney is set to join Shrewsbury on loan. #AVFC #Salop

Good move. If true, it will be a good test for him.

Agreed, seems a level-headed lad so hopefully he won't be distracted by the bright lights of Shrewsbury.

Looks like tap in merchant Romanos prediction on Sunday night of us being very active in the coming days fell through .

Jorge Mendes met with Villa this week.. that's probably what he was referring to. Outgoing activity obviously being worked on, too.

Heard on Shoutsport earlier that apparently we’ve agreed terms with Chelsea for Lukaku but he wants to go to Napoli. Has anyone else heard this? Apologies if it’s earlier in this thread.

Yeah it’s a rumour out of Italy.

If true, it seems a strange one to me.

It's so strange, I find it very hard to believe it's true. Just doesn't make any sense at all.

If it comes from within the blast radius of the office of De Laurentiis then we really needn't try and understand it. A rumour on fire from the waist down.

I agree. He’s not displacing Ollie and he would be on very high wages.

There's a lot about that Lukaka story that is hard to believe, but the main thing for me is I can't see Emery or Monchi getting down to the brass tacks with Chelsea if they hadn't first spoken to and convinced the player himself. It just doesn't sound like how we've done business with any other signing.

Whoever's at left back, having a fit and healthy Ramsey ahead of them makes a big difference with the amount of defensive work he gets through.

None of our other options really worked there last season, McGinn, Tielemans, Rogers, Zaniolo.

The Moreno/Ramsey combination was brilliant the previous season. Ramsey might be the player in our squad with the most potential.

Agree about the others, but I thought Rogers did well though.  Having a fully fit and firing Jacob Ramsey back in that role would be great though.

Would Illing Jr cover that role as well or is he more of a LB?

He was used as a left wingback at Juventus. He looks like a classic winger to me but with Emery's tactics of the left back being attack-minded and the right back more often staying back and making a 3, then he could effectively play as a left wingback in our set-up.

More noise about Felix and Benifica not being able to afford him. I obviously know nothing, but starting to feel a little de ja vu from last summer? Feels like player doesn’t want this.

Perhaps that's why Duran is acting the twat, to boost viewing figures. Nobody wants to watch a football series where everybody is happy.
