The game overnight did nothing to stop me thinking our number one transfer priority should be centre half although the false 9 was chronic too.

Carlos reminds me of James Collins where he’s a 6/10 most games with the odd 9/10 thrown in, needs to be 8/10 every game.  Need better than him or Lenglet was last season as teams will target the high press to put us on the back foot.

If Duran and/or Archer leave we absolutely need a replacement who can play up top…Rogers looked completely out of depth there overnight

Duran will leave sooner or later so we can’t bank on him. Archer isn’t good enough sadly, we absolute someone who is more competent as Ollie’s back up.

Il Mattino saying that we've agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Lukaku but he wants to go and play for Conte at Napoli.

That would be a bizarre signing and so at odds with the strategy of the rest of our recruitment.

That would seem totally out of keeping with everything were doing.

I'm a bit worried that there's no obvious replacement for Luiz

It was glaringly obvious after last nights game that we still need a top notch right sided centre half, along with a forward to cover Ollie.

We also need to try and get the likes of Carlos, Digne/Moreno and Dendoncker off the books to free up the wages bill.

completely agree, although I think a dominating CH is the most presssing of all of those.

We've lost DL and Iroegbunam and replaced them with Onana, Barkley and Barrenechea.

Our midfielders next season will just be doing slightly different roles.

Chelsea agree a fee of £33m with Atletico for Gallagher. They prefer to sell him abroad despite Villa offering £45m last month. Fair enough, we did the same with Luiz.

Barkley is the Luiz replacement and will share the role with Tielemans.

Underwhelming at best.

Tielemans is the Luiz replacement. We just signed him a year early as we knew Dougie would probably leave.

Neither barkley nor tielemans are Luiz quality I'm afraid, and neither are capable of posting Luiz's numbers from last season.

Hopefully the goals will be spread amongst our attackers but it's a worry imo
