The cranks on KUMB seem to think we were in for him? Erm.

Probably all wanking into a sock at the thought of "getting one over on Villa" because we wouldn't drop the price for Duran to match their begging bowl.

What they fail to recognise is that we picked up the better player in Philogene for far cheaper than Summerville & moved on without saying a word, because thats how decent honourable clubs do their fucking business.

Probably. And it's one Sullivan got with a government subsidy.

Grealish wages are too big for us . No thanks .

The links with him are going to be inevitable.  For what it's worth, the role on the left that Jacob Ramsey plays would suit the Jack Grealish that left Villa perfectly.  Not sure he is the same player now and does spend long periods of the season injured.

One thing about a season-long loan for Grealish is that I assume he would count as a club-trained player and would know a lot of the players already.

Man City won't let him leave on loan and we won't pay £50-60m for a 28 year old that has lost his greatest asset, his free spirit to make things happen. Pep has broken him, in a way I don't think you will ever see the player we knew.

I'm not convinced Felix is the answer either and I'm fairly sure he doesn't want to come. We need to move on, get a good creative 10 in. Spend the Felix money on Eze, then go and do a loan to buy for Chalobah and close the window.

Grealish plays how Pep wants him to play. I think he's good enough as a player that he would play how Emery would want him to play. He scored a "Villa" Grealish goal last night in the friendly versus AC Milan. Ran on to a through ball and brilliant left foot finish. But agreed that he isn't being allowed to join a proper rival and wages and fee would be astronomical. I think fits what they want from him and he's going to win things there every season.

I don't have the animosity towards him that some others do, but I still wouldn't have him back. We've moved on as a club.

Agreed.

If he hadn't played for us previously and was judged purely on his performances at Man City, along with his likely fee and wage demands, I don't think anybody would seriously consider it. He simply isn't worth it.

Hopefully he will be the last of our great PL sell-outs. Those who wanted an instant few baubles that would've been purchased with or without them, and who never had faith that we'd ever be challengers ourselves.

It would be appropriate if his departure (the one player who was meant to be a fan, was meant to be one of us) was the first one that didn't set us back five years, but instead heralded a new era where players can actually believe in Aston Villa as a club that can match their ambitions.

He demonstrably did not believe that.

Him leaving could've destroyed our progress; the fact that it didn't is thanks to the owners, managers, coaches, players and fans who stuck with us.

He thought he was better than us, and now we are better than him. No need for sentiment, that's just how it is.

Wise words Rory.
