We absolutely do need Felix, or somebody like him. Rogers and Ramsey etc are great young players, but have never played as number 9 which is the position we'd be absolutely stuffed in if anything happens to Watkins. If Ollie stays fit all season, we'll still need options up front to give him a breather from time to time. Somebody like Felix who can play as a 9 or 10 is exactly what we need. Assuming he doesn't come here and be a bellend, obviously.

Agree with you mate. I won't profess to know much about him at all, but from the bits I've been looking at, somebody capable of travelling with the ball, playing in really tight spaces, would suit us better than perhaps Diaby. Teams aren't going to play a high line, so his quality on the ball and guile is what we need as our 2nd striker.

He's not a Duran replacement, he's the Diaby replacement. He'd be a big step up in quality and at a good age. Actually being wanted by Emery, rather than having nowhere to fit in the Argentine Pulis side will be a big help. 5'11" too, so much bigger than I realised.

I don't see Felix as a centre-forward at all.

I don't see him as a number 9, but I do with Rogers.

I’ve seen him described as a false 9, so he would need other attackers to provide the threat off the defender’s shoulder.

I reckon he'd enjoy playing for Emery and his coaches. Then again, who wouldn't?

I don’t see Felix as a centre forward either, but even if he was he’d be so much different to Ollie it would be irrelevant.

We need someone that can run around and press and who can play in any position across the front, with some natural ability, and a good mentality. Really, similar attributes to the players we already have but in an even more ‘all round package’, even if it costs similar to Felix.

Felix, if he could be arsed, would give you some clever little passes and nice link up play but we’re starting to see that from Rogers and a bit deeper from Tielemans.

I think Felix would be a brilliant and needed addition. I’m more concerned right now about our CB depth. It’s very thin. One injury to the Pau/Konsa and we are in real trouble with what we gave as back ups. Same at RB. Kosta might be fine eventually, but he is green and for me, overcommits in attack. A loan move would benefit him, and KKH should be sent on loan again.

I wouldn't enjoy it, tbh.

I'm just not interested in being demanding and always searching to improve my level, I'd rather float by through life, with the minimum of grief.

Yep, the 2 most obvious areas to strengthen currently are a really top quality right sided CB to compliment Pau and to allow Konsa to carry on at right back in this counter balanced full back system that Emery likes (so a more attacking left back of which we have plenty) and a really top player to rotate with Watkins, Bailey and Rogers in the attacking positions, and personally I’d like the type of player I mentioned above for that. I’d say otherwise we can just trim the squad back.

Yep agree with all this
He also has the technical ability we need when playing at the highest level in Europe to control a football and not give it straight back to the opposition

Sums it quite correctly to where we are now and what's required.
Though instead of the foul name-calling I would say as long as players signed who take their profession seriously and here to be elite and not be distracted.

I think we 100% need another Attacking player - At the moment - with Diaby, Luiz and Duran most likely all gone - thats a lot of goals.  Bailey was a massive bonus last season - but its a big ask to say he will be at this level again all season.  Just like its a big ask that Ramsey and Emi can come back without any setbacks or need to recover form or match sharpness after a season out.

Likewise it is a huge ask that Rogers, Philogene, Dobbins etc will all be able to show there full potential without dips in form / struggles considering there age.   We're going into a UCL season with the majority of a squad that has never played at the level - I think we need at least 1 or 2 more UCL level players.  Whether includes Felix or not but I expect us to see someone of that calibre come in.  And maybe another defender of that profile too.

And this sums it up.
Excellent posts here regards whats needed.
I've enjoyed reading these particular views Beardy because it's what I feel Villa will be looking at doing so you have it very much spot on in my books.

A pretty good insight of how Felix played in his season long loan last year at Barcelona.

Felix trained alone today (as he wasn't involved yesterday) before being picked up (in one of those people carriers with blacked out windows) with a suitcase and reportedly driven to the airport.

Probably to take part in his planespotting hobby. The suitcase contained his weak lemon drink.
