Aston Villa closing in on highly rated 16-year-old centre back Leon Routh from Luton Town.

Player has agreed terms. Fee set to be agreed.

Already been covered, but selling Diaby would be a ridiculous thing to do.

I don't necessarily want to sell Diaby, but if we raised the funds.. would you consider swapping him for Alex Baena? Since the right side is locked up by Leon, Diaby isn't really going to get much time in his preferred spot. Instead, he sets up inside behind Ollie. That's a natural position for Baena, and he's comfortable out on the left.

Just food for thought..

Moussa Diaby has agreed terms on a move to Al Ittihad.

The Saudi club will now enter talks with Aston Villa over a fee.

(Source: @Glongari)

Moussa Diaby has reached an agreement on personal terms with Al-Ittihad — they’re prepared to pay €60M! @Glongari #avfc

Aston Villa’s offer for Semih Kılıçsoy — €18m + Álex Moreno to Beşiktaş on loan for 1 year!
@yagosabuncuoglu #avfc

Yagosa Buncuoglu has £1.4m followers, but if Moreno leaves, wouldn't it be back to Spain?

Only 18 years old

We’d have a squad of about 150 players if we were living by the “where there is smoke” mantra. I’ve got us signing about 60 players this summer according to the links you’ve posted.

I know there a nonsense narrative around Diaby, but if we sell him the level of contribution he made will be difficult to replace. I think it’d be daft, especially if it’s only a similar amount to what we paid.

I agree Paul, he’s been scapegoated where there is no need for a scapegoat.
