ASTON VILLA JOIN RACE TO SIGN OGC NICE’S JEAN-CLAIR TODIBO

According to L’Équipe, Aston Villa have become the latest club to join the race to sign Jean-Clair Todibo (24), who is expected to leave OGC Nice this summer.

Great player......but why would they not sell to Man United, as Nice is owned by Sir Jim?

Todibo might want to play for someone better than Manchester United?

As we were at £119M loss in the last accounts, I think the chances of us paying money for any footballer beyond a few million are pretty remote. In fact I am expecting Ndidi, Iheanacho, Hermoso etc links plus a couple of creative loans. The press linking us with all these players is utterly pointless. The only bonus is that we do have some very good players coming back from injury next season.

I think people forget that from 1st July, we're into a new financial year. One where revenue is likely to be much improved. And if we do sell Dougie, I think it will be because there's likely to be some significant investment to take advantage of being a CL team.

Next year will include last year though. So if we were at £119m last year, then the 3 year rolling £105m is going to be tight, even with the revenue increase post July.

Sigh, we weren’t at £119m for PSR losses last year.

Here I am.

Swiss Ramble stated that after allowable losses which are infrastructure, youth development, community and women's football the loss for the year was £93m.

We made a £22m profit in 2022, and a £24m loss in 2021... total £95m so we were within £10m of the limit.

So next year, our £24m loss will drop off the 3-year average.

We should be able to spend some money after either a) we choose to sell someone (i.e. Duran or Luiz) or b) we get into the new financial year.

I’m not sure that’s the case. I think we’ll sell one or two, but I expect we will be spending.

Income is likely to be close to or exceed £300m this year.

Indeed, but income, or profit/loss for the year ending this month, is the more pertinent figure for now. My guess is £260m, and a hell of a wage bill. Thankfully, no shit manager and staff pay-offs.

Fabrizio Romano is saying the Barkley deal is in the bag.

“So the first one is done, and then they will take their time to advance to the next targets.”

OK so £93m in 23, but even with the £260M turnover and the £24M dropping off so the 2 year running total is say £71M, with the fees last summer, plus wages, we have £34M wiggle room in losses in 24. How tight to that do you think we are Percy?

“It’s all agreed for a £5m fee, Ross Barkley wants Aston Villa, Unai Emery strongly wanted him. So the first one is done, and then they will take their time to advance to the next targets. But I think it could be even two, three more signing

two, three more signings. happy days

Of course, wouldn't disagree. Just looking ahead to how we do better still with PSR when that £22m profit falls away. The best way is the huge growth in income.

Aston Villa are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Unai Emery is a big fan of the player with several other clubs interested. The Argentine is likely to leave Spurs this summer.

Rinse and repeat would take him for £5m
