Apparently the Dendonker 9m deal with Napoli has fell through, so he’ll be returning ( for now )

Saw that, Emery doesn't rate him but he would have got plenty of minutes for us in recent months. Hopefully Everton reignite their interest in him but we won't be seeing much of whatever we paid for him coming back in a transfer fee.

Can Everton even pay their bills this summer, never mind buy anyone this summer?

Some players we may end up just having to cut our losses with and get them off the wage bill. Cutinho is another one. Can't imagine Chambers is on huge wages but he can go too.

I do wonder if Footy had suggested signing Barkley on Saturday how many would have reacted. That's not a criticism, football fans are a weird bunch. I think it's a pretty risky buy but maybe we are as skint as keeps getting mentioned in the press.

I know what you mean, but I don’t think it’s too outrageous to feel more comfortable about signing a player that Emery wants, compared to a suggestion from a Jesus bot.

Oh yeah, I back Emery to improve pretty much anyone but it's still worth debating everyone's merits. He's always had talent and if he's willing to come here, under Emery, he'll know he won't be allowed to be on easy street so that is a positive sign. I just think the suggestion would have been scoffed at if there wasn't a realistic chance of it happening.

If we signed Araujo that would be an absolute joke. Quite literally one of the best centre backs in world football.

It'd never happen though. Right..?

No I wouldn’t have thought so.

They were saying after a few weeks that they couldn't afford the fee they'd agreed.

Odd deal all round.

Manchester United, Aston Villa, West Ham United keen on Oumar Solet

Manchester United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old versatile Frenchman Oumar Solet.

However, Solet’s long-term future at the Austrian club is uncertain, as he will enter the final year of his contract on July 1. Such a situation has alerted well-known clubs across Europe, including Manchester United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United

Can play both sides in a back four and  CDM. He is a future superstar, so it's a big yes for me.

I do have a feeling that we will sign someone this summer which will make people say "Villa? Signed him? How did they do that?"

A bit like when we signed Bent or Ings (which at the time felt like a coup given how many he was scoring for Southampton). And lots of people saw us as not all that different from Sunderland or Southampton and didn't really understand how we were just able to come and take their best player with a snap of our fingers. And there was also a bit of surprise amongst ourselves that we could just go out and take the better players from some of the clubs around us.

But bigger than the above, as now we have the clout that top four brings. I'm thinking someone like Bowen or Kudus. I guess the likes of Olise or Eze could be that as well.

I think it will be a very shrewd signing

Certainly will tame opposition midfielders.

Remember last summer when for like an hour we thought we were signing Alex Oxelade-Chamberlain? To the point where someone actually started a thread for him. And it went from WTF? to "I trust Emery to get the best out of him" in the space of about 20 posts. We're nothing if not fickle and easily swayed.

What about this guy? Cheap and good on the ball. The only problem is he plays in a walking league.

Getting this Ross Barkley for a year or two on a free will be a very decent squad addition.

No I wouldn’t have thought so.

The man has a €1 billion release clause.
